In auckland is looking very healthy at the moment..

Oxygen - Ronski Speed, was massive.

And upcoming
Slinky
Chemistry
Godskitchen
VACCINE - Kyau & Albert

All of which turn out will hopefully be good.

Good job local promoters pushing the scene.. Incline events, 3am etc.

Hopefully it keeps growing!

I dont mean to complain but there is one thing iv noticed...

All the dance parties these days offer the same thing.

There's nothing new they offer and so people get bored and move on (which is fine because there's people always turning 18, so there's always new customers coming in).

Dance parties also seem to be getting more and more expensive - yet this isnt reflected in the production.

Promotors need to focus less on bigger profit margins (lets be honest, there's only a very select few who can make a living on it) and more on production. I know what im saying is nothing new, but no one seems to listen.

If you build it, they will come.

Ok, rant over, iv got a solid month of trance on the weekend Music couldnt be happier
[quote]
Who exactly are you referring to?

Of course parties are getting more and more expensive, weak NZ dollar compared to the Euro/Pound, inflation, hardly any dance pill or tobacco sponsorship anymore etc etc.

I think 90% of what you spout is crap to be honest and doesnt help you with the bookings you seem to crave in the slightest. Any idiot knows you dont comment in a negative way on the very parties you are trying to play on.

M2, myself, 3am and future all put a lot of money into production, class acts and innovation (all the aforementioned promoters).

I wouldnt usually bother replying to such rubbish but people like you need a reality check at times.

Feel free to do a better job yourself, have fun finding acts though.

Jared im not going to blow smoke up ur ass and call you god because you book trance acts.

To make it crystal clear i was referring to gigs across the board, not solely focusing on trance events. In all reality im more focusing on the bigger parties, deep hard, our house etc. A lot of the smaller parties (octance, meow, warriors, OXYGEN included) put on outstanding parties with what they have to work with.

May i ask what is so new and innovative over the parties you put on at Studio (which in my opinion were better than some of the ones that have been at transmission room)? Venue differences aside, what innovations have you implemented in your brand over time?

I will use the dolls house at slinky as an example. Yes it was a good gimic and worked very well on the whole. However i feel it could have been better excuted with reference to sound rig, lighting placement and visual effects utilised. This is all constructive criticism remember, i highlight things i felt could have been improved so that they CAN be improved at future events, thereby lifting the standard and bettering the brand. I dont highlight these issues to bring down how much time and effort promotors have put into their gigs.

One gripe i will make pubicly about the oxygen brand is the visuals on the tv's of late - reminds me of windows media player visuals. I say this contructively in the hope you may address this at future events when funds/time/planning permits. In saying that i felt the production at Oxygen NYE was outstanding, especially the lighting. Some you win, some you lose.

If no one reports on what didnt work at your gigs then how can you plan to overcome these in the future?

You seem to forget i avidly and happily come to and support 99% of trance gigs as well as many others. Do not assume i know nothing of what goes into pulling off a successful event/festival - i have experience with events on a national scale that would probably suprise you.

I would love to try and do a better job, however that is hard when some NZ promotors have a stranglehold on NZ Territory wrt bringing internationals. So because i can't put on my own gig at this stage, i feel it important to report on possible improvements that can be made to others gigs - this is all done of course in light heartedness with good intentions.

Im a bit upset you took offense to what i said, especially since i never referenced nor implied your brand. You took it on yourself to infer Oxygen. Maybe that says something about how you feel about your brand at the moment i dont know. What i do know is if no one questions current dealings, how can they ever improve?

I feel like i have repeated myself alot in this post, but i just want to drive all of this home. I never imply negativity. Negative People only infer it.

You yurself jared even admitted the sound rig couldve been improved upon if memory serves me right.

Feel free to respond, i take anything you have to say positively and as constructive criticism.

The thread was about trance events coming up, nothing to do with DHnF & Our House.

Anything can be done with money, with a 550 legal capacity not so much.

Steve used to have circus performers on uni cycles riding around the stage, full colour lasers writing pictures on the walls and huge lighting shows.
People also used to be happy paying $80+ for tickets, I remember paying around $100 for Two Tribes at the St James.

I don't know what planet you were on, but I only have good things to say about who I use and the end result.

Constructively is a word to the promoter in person or by email, not publically bringing down the event on an internet forum.

Your opinion is just that, an opinion, albeit an uninformed one with no real concept of how anything works and what things cost.

Yeah? That was the cheapest to date. No projection, low powered lasers. You must have had something good that night, although it was NYE Wink

Ok then. Some people talk a lot, some people do a lot. Others just enjoy a good night.

goodness.

I love the trance parties Music and i love that there are so many of them right now.

we support your gigs JK - I'd like to think you take on quality DJs because they're good at what they do rather than because they're too afraid to speak their mind though Smile (which is not to say you don't take on good guys, coz I definitely know you do!)

It just gets tiresome the same people always having something negative to say, and then hassling for gigs.

It's supposed to be about music and having fun.
If you don't like something, don't go, or do a better job yourself.

It's easy to sit back and say your piece and put other peoples hard work down, but its not really needed.

Don't think you would reinvent the wheel Jason, I used to think that and after a couple of big losses (and everyone forgetting about the gig two days later), it soon paints a very different picture for you.

(My comments here arent just in relation to today and this thread)

That will be all Fishy

yea i think thats fair, Jared.

when it comes down to it, i'm just happy to have a gig to go along to where i can dance with like-minded people, enjoy the music and reach for the lasers Music personally, i enjoy the events, even if they don't have the gimmicks.

Um Jst2gd, just a quick point.

"All dance parties these days offer the same thing."

Yeah.. it's called dance music. Which changes as new tracks are released. This is what we go to dance parties for, the music and the people.

If you want something more exciting, and different maybe try going to the circus or better yet cirque de soleil (as they usually have quite good music too).

Aw really? i had no idea new tracks means the genre evolves? My life is changed forever.

Im not saying im bored with the scene, im more of a music junkie than most. I just want the scene to be the best it can be. Is that a bad thing?

PS bring back seraphin!!! RUNNING!!!
[quote]
I mean i all honesty, if you only went out because of the music then why go out? you can listen to the same songs at home.

You go out because the atmosphere adds something special to the music - that extra something you dont get at home.

Increase the quality of atmosphere and you increase the quality fo the music.

So you're saying that you can't tell the difference between dancing to a trance track, in your living room - alone.. and the feeling of dancing in a club, surrounded by your friends and hundreds of others all on the same wave length.. ?

Fuckin' sickening I know. Huge shortage of Psychiatrists right now.

Its just kids following kids and dressing up in daft outfits.

Which is fine, dont get me wrong.
Anything to get the youth into dance music and clubbing.

Slinky/Gods/Our House/Chemistry has filled the gap of underage parties and The Brain etc.

but dont be fooled that the trance scene is that healthy.

go down the queue at any of these gigs and ask the punters what their fave three trance tracks are...

You will probably get a reply of "what is trance?".

You want something different come to Seba on Saturday.
