Are the two recent Europa League winning teams sufficiently amped to beat their opponents? Will a revitalized Liverpool, set on a fourth place and on retaining the crown of most top flight wins, make it a double again against their fiercest rival? Will a jubilant Fulham, filled with vigour after beating the Grand Old Lady of Italian football (those game fixing cunts from Turin) on the same ground just days ago, also put the overpaid and underdeveloped City to the sword?

AWful performance from Liverpool if I'm honest, 2 shots and other than Torres' early goal they did 2/10 of f**k all. Rafa's tactics were all wrong given that Gary Neville was on the pitch, a man with all the speed of a glacier and yet who does Rafa put against him? Maxi Rodriguez... When Benayoun and Babel, two players who would have run at him and caused problems, sitting ont he bench until late on. Torres was completely isolated for all bout about 20 seconds and his frustration was plain to see as Liverpool's midfield got completely out played. Which begs the question why stick with two defensive players in there when it's clearly not working as Man United had all the ball? IMO Benayoun or Babel should have started, and Aquilani on at half time given that Lucas wasn't actually winning any ball so there was no point having him on the field. Mascherano lucky not to be sent off, but at the same time he fouled Valencia outside the area only for him to stay on his feet until he got inside the box. Then again if it was only given as a free kick then I think Howard Webb would definitely have sent Mascherano off so Liverpool might have actually got lucky that a penalty was given. I also thought Fletcher was lucky not to walk for his petulant kick on Kuyt after the whistle, but I think Howard Webb had his back to it and didn't see what happened.

Form say this was the result that was most likely, but it was a pretty average game overall, very few clean cut chances, very little attractive football, and none of the aggro that I was hoping for either.

The ball floed so much better with an attacking option there it was amazing. Though this is likely a combined result of player ability and tired legs, it wasn't just legs I feel. I really feel that had we started offensively (even just Aqua for Lucas but ideally Babel over Maxi too) we would have seen a different, and more exciting, game

Speaking of European spots. The FA Cup is Chelsea VS Portsmouth. Normally the FA Cup winner would get a Europa League spot but Chelsea have a Champions League spot sewen up and Portsmouth cannot enter Europe due to being in administration.
Does this spot go to another English team based on their league finish now? Can we make Villa and the spuds play off for third in the fa cup and the spot? (silly I know, will just go to the next league team I guess)

For Spurs it was really now or never as Citeh will spend £200m over the summer and if Liverpool get bought by another set of wealthy Arabs they will be cashed up as well so the chances of Spurs being able to compete with next season without the advantage of CL football money and prestige would have been very slim.
