Any night in any state I make a point of talking to these guys as they'll always take the time to talk to you. They have the best attitude out of any Wellington club Very Happy

Big ups to you guys
[quote]
Yeah, they are pretty cool. I stand outside eating a banana sometimes and have a chat. Not sure I converse with themn sensibly though. Razz I don't know their names either....!

The Phoenix bouncers rock! they have to be the friendliest bouncers i've ever been mates with, aye jeff. I think that's what makes Phoenix and Cumberland House so much more inviting too, (to have someone to talk to when you can't see straight) hehe.
[quote]
I can always see straight its just that I like turning my head from side to side on the odd occasion Wink
[quote]
yea the boyzz on the door rock..they a alway willin 2 talk shit with me..so im happy
[quote]
Ive had a few good chats to the boucers there on many occassions, know whats going on up there in the Phoenix, whos playing etc, and very friendly.
[quote]
I definately rate the Pheonix bouncers. They are total cruisers and real primo when your sideways, they grin and will always help you if you need it...
;P

Yeah, going from last week at Stud9, I do like the ones at Phoenix.

I'm not sure who he is, but one of the Maori or Polynesian guys at Stud9 is a fucker. At Sandwiches I retreated to the back of the room my the bar and sat down on a seat, just in frotn and to the side of a bouncer, sleeping in another seat against the wall. I then leaned back and put my legs (NOT my feet) up on a seat in front of me, so my legs were resting on the metal armrests and feet hanging out past the edge of the seat.

I clsoe my eyes and next thing I know, some dude has whacked me and I've fallen off the seat taking several chairs with me, and the bouncer is saying "get ya fucking feet off there" The fucker had belted me one.

What an asshole. Talk about excessive force, I wasn't even doing the seat any harm, I'd deliberately made sure my feet weren't on the fabric. It probably caused more harm making me fall off, and smashing the seats on the ground. Dumbass.

Anyway, bad experience with Stud9 bouncer, who was tired, grumpy and a general asshole. He coulda just tapped me on the shoulder and asked me nicely for chrissakes.

Thats absolutely rediculous. If i was you I'd be doing something about such treatment. Go and see the manager and make a complaint, I'm sure that isn't what the manager wants. You could also have an assault charge put against him if you have a witness.

Remember: A bouncers job is to protect the people inside the club. It is NOT to kick people out, beat people up etc - force should only be used when it is putting other punters at risk.

In Australia they have very strict rules on bouncers now. Anyone who has been over there recently will have seen that all bouncers have a photo-id neck tag with a number on it in big writing, that must be displayed at all times.

I asked one of the bouncers at ClubUK in Melbourne about them as I had seen them around and he didn't look too busy at 5am in the morning, he told me that to become a doorman you must have no criminal convictions, and do a 3 week course, covering all aspects of the job, including first aid, self defense, and most importantly, the law - on what they can and can't do, and how a doorman should interact with the police etc.

I'm suprised there hasn't been more call for it in NZ. I guess people get beaten by a bouncer and think its their own fault and don't act on it. Even if your just drunk and a bit obnoxious it doesn't give them an excuse to exercise physical force.

I'd do something about that if you feel wronged, the more this thing shows up, the more likely a law change will happen.

On a lighter note - yes the Phoenix bouncers ARE the best. Phil & Robbie are great guys, and everyone loves it when Tooley (the bald guy who only reappears for the big fevahs now as he has moved on) shows up.
[quote]
Well, nah - it wasn't like he pounded me, but enough to push me off the chair. I am quite a small guy too.

He was just grumpy I reckon. Kinda pissed me off but I don't really expect that much more from bouncers. It'd be nice if they were better trained and equiped etc, but I'm sure that'd just go onto our ticket/entry price so I'm not that fussed.

The manager wouldn't want it, no - but I'm sure he wouldn't want clubbers fuckin' up his seats either, which is what the bouncer would claim I was doing. Smile
[quote]
Voice - Maybe he was a lil upset cause his boyfriend stole his handbag. Not to worry voice, fuck him man Smile
[quote]
Yeah, I'm not worried. Kinda funny, looking back on it actually. Me getting pushed over in the back of Stud9 by a bouncer. *laughs*
[quote]
The phoenix bouncers are cool and all that, but a lil incident happened at Fahrenhite which resulted in the removal of Damien and my Ex girlfriend for sniffin damn poppers whats with that?! The stuffs legal. And my X is banned for a month. What the fuck!!!!!!!!!
[quote]
It looked dodge as fuck and to keep it even looking as though the place enforces a strict drug policy some people do have to be asked to leave. It may have only been poppers but how was the bouncer to know that when he sees a couple of people taking sniffs out of a bottle. It's probably more for the sake of everyone else in the club that the two were told to leave.
[quote]
i'm not happy with the bouncers. Tried 4 times to get into Fevah party - 11.45pm the first and every few hours after that and was told each time by the bouncers that it was full and no one would be let in - we'd go off and come back in hope - but no entry. Sooooo disappointed - have come over from the UK on holiday and hoped to hear some decent Hard House and see james lawson and crew. very bummed out. Roll on Checkpoint Charlie.
[quote]
Haha, shoulda been there earlier I suppose - it was always gonna be a sell-out.

I was a bit apprehensive at first when they said no pass-outs till 1am, but in the end I didn't want to head out before then anyway!
[quote]
yeah it was weird heaps of people were coming out when we were first waiting at 11.45 - so that sigh was bollocks as well. What pissed me off was James Lawson came back out (bless his soul) and said to me that it wasn't very full in his opinion (b4 12) and he couldn't see why they wouldn't let some more people in. I reckon they might have been letting people in after 11.45 but just the guys on the door were telling everyone to go away. Imagine the size of the crowd if they let everyone who wanted to get in IN. I saw heaps of people turned away. Big following for Hard House - pity no larger venue or PRE SALES!!!! hint hint.
[quote]
actually a larger venue not strictly neccessary (u don't want any rif raff in! Saw a few shockers drinking cans of beer in the Q)- just some tickets in advance please for those who can't get there when it opens. I'll stop moaning now!
[quote]
Yeah, it would have been nice - I'm not sure what the rationale was, but it was ridiculously cheap. I had a much better night than I did at Fevah at Cumberland House a few weeks ago and that was $35, 3.5 times the price! It was pretty full if you ask me, until about 4am. Any more people and it would have been really uncomfortable.
[quote]
The bouncers at Phoenix are usually pretty cool but they were coming down pretty hard at the chrissy party I saw a few people end up out on the street.

But I suppose they have to be strict or get shut down - especially after that raid the cops did a few weeks ago.
[quote]
$10 was nothing for fevah, the night went off and I would have paid more. It sucked that Damien got kicked out but you cant be so obvious sniffing anywhere, more descression sweeties... Talk to Ryan@firmrecords.co.nz about the shit ass bouncer, thats fucken rude and they need to be carefull with us fragile munters, we need places to relax and put our feet up aand they should know we have bad balance!!! lol.
[quote]
Mutal friends? My friend was kicked out for sniffing too spent the rest of the nite sitting outside looking wishful at phoinex - bugger
