The ol' "get off a car rego fine" thread

Tips? Rego is about 3 or 4 weeks expired, was parked in city street.
Is there any argument to get you off? Plead lack of awareness and buy online tonight?

Probably pretty boned tbh. 3 or 4 weeks is a long time.

WOF is fairly easy within 28 days, rego there's buggar all in the way of excuses especially with it being one of the councils top earners right now.

I managed to get off one claiming i was on a buisness trip for a month so had not been driving it, and was going to do it on my return. They asked for no proof.

I blame the supercity..

Its worth a try I got off my fine .. rego was out by 4 weeks .. said I was away for a few weeks and spun the "I have a clean record it was a innocent mistake" bla bla bla and got off

WOF and Rego fines are the easiest ones of all to get off. Hard for me to say what works and what doesn't, since I've had a 100% success rate and getting off them, through a sample size of about 7 or 8 heh. But for entertainment's sake, I usually try to conjure as convoluted a story as I can (which also aids in making fact-checking a chore). But I always get the actual wof/rego asap before writing in so I think that's probably key..

My excuse to get away with a couple of eeks overdue rego included the legitimate excuse of nfi combined with three extenuating circumstances and it worked. Write an essay. Zif civil servants want to read that shit ^_^

5 cop cars on exit rd today at bp services on northern m'way checking regos and wof's

Got a good one yesterday. Car has been in the garage for the last 6 months with no WoF and rego on hold. Got a ticket in the mail for no rego, parked on a street in Manukau, with no details of the car, but a rego number that hasn't been on the car since MAY 2002.

I got this car off Dad, and he can't remember if he handed those plates in when he swapped his personalised plate on, or if they were in the garage when his house got broken into and car stolen.

Should be trivial to get off, but wtfs.

One of teh young boys I work with with in Kune over school holidays got 2 tickets in Rotorua and Taupo for no rego. I've got off heaps of stuff like that so offered to write him a letter and got him to ge his rego up to date. Unfortunately,the rego was out by 3 months and they knocked him back on both letters. Stink! I was pretty confident that it'd work.

Probably .... but it my deluded state I've got off at least 50% off all tickets that I've ever received. Usually rego, WOF, parking tickets, speeding tickets.
