The most annoying noise in the world

Has to be the feedback hum i get when i connect my laptop (running on mains power) to my stereo. I fucking hate it.

Whats the best way to eliminate it??

Avoid plugging it in to your stereo imo.

Others might have more useful ideas...

Earth cable mate.

Screw one of these bad boys to your laptop (bottom part) and the other part onto the floor of your house and you will be sweet.

Well, thats just not that practical. Its a laptop, and its handy to carry round, rather than being stuck into the ground by a wire......


Surely theres some kind of filter i can plug in or something?

Surely you can just buy a really long earth cable?

it only needs to be long enough to reach the same plug you plug the power into?

Someone just told me to replace the battery. Mine is a bit bung, lasts for about 15 mins.

They reckon that the battery filters it, but when its fucked, it doesnt..... Any truth to this?

When I was working in hifi, our way around earth loop hum was to buy a piggyback plug, cut off the earth pin on it and plug one of the devices in through that. Effectively you remove the earth from the device.
You may not be happy with the safety levels of that though, and I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not for your laptop.
