10 tunes ?? Was it a 30min set or something ? Confused
[quote]
Laughing Hour set, bro...good music doesn't have to be short like breaks, house fans have a higher attention span, you see! Razz
[quote]
that and it means you can have fun with 3+ minute mixes if you so desire.. looooong mixes are the best! Music
[quote]
Yah, most of the mixes are at least 1.5mins, except the last one, too busy talking shit with the next DJ, barely left myself time for any pre queuing Laughing

Lolz so 1.5 min mixes x 10 = 15 mins What the hell do you do for the other 45mins just stand there ?

He he

Ps come on pete 10 tunes per hour is just lazy don't you get bored ?
[quote]
It's not lazy, it's called playing ALL of the track, most house/deep/prog tracks are 7-8mins long, they build and have a structure worthy of playing the whole track, they're not just ego-centric breakdown orientated breaks bullshit...no, I don't get bored, I'm in the mix for 1.5-2 mins of a 7min track, I'm then finding a new track, I'm then pre-cueing, I'm then 1.5-2mins in the mix of the end of the track...that only leaves an average of 3-4mins of a track playing solo which there's nothing wrong with that at all, right amount of time to find the right track...and if you listen to the mix, you'll hear there's some cutting/playing around going on mid track on some of them, too...plus, it's not boring to me even when waiting for the right mix point, because it's not boring music to me, I'm in a groove with it.

Pipe, smoke it, brah! Froggy

You gen-y'ers and your instant gratification/shit house attention spans Razz

Nice South Islander math skills...I mix in AND out of my tracks...30mins in the mix, dude Laughing

Quite while you're behind, dunny, and listen to the mix, you'll hate it, too deep and Farina'y for ya! Froggy

Ha ha keep your pants on fullah

And I'm probably older than you lolz. I just find 10 tunes an hour boring listen to or play Its not the 90s anymore man Razz

You have to do more than mix intro to outro every tune to impress me these days why don't you get 3 decks going ? you've got the time. all your heroes get through more tunes an hour than that for fucks sake 10 tunes per hour ? come one

So half your time is cueing and selecting ? DYNAMIC

hehehe

sorry, dunny, but im with pete.

at times, i love what you play! you are a fabulous festival dj, and you fucking rock the party in certain environments. but you are talking from what you believe makes a party. this is not a bad thing, its merely one thing. we need diversity in our music. speaking from my own standpoint, i LOVE getting out onto the dance floor and losing it in a groove. i find long mixes are so much fun to play, and can be more enjoyable to take in, imho. not everyone should have the same tastes as each of us, though, otherwise it would be a very boring world.

perhaps rather than dissing anything you deem 'shit' because we are not mixing 10 tunes every few minutes, you could take a step out of what you think is the way to do it and note that in actuality, there are many more.

we are all extremely good at ranting when we feel passionate about something, and biggups you because i know this is something you feel very passionate about. but others are also passionate about what they love too. this has nothing to do with relevance, or how important we feel this is to ourselves personally, it is merely what they are drawn to. different strokes for different folks and all of that.

so, while i applaud you for ROCKING a damn fine party and smashing the granny out of the club, i also appreciate being able to stay in said club for more than 3 hours. and thats what a groove will do. its science.

on that note, keep doing how you do. and if you keep doing it with the passion you always have always had for the music, then.. you will never be irrelevant .

this track is my dedication to you.

Lolz Nice sermon

Way to take a wind up too seriously there Mel

Basically djing (Any genre )needs the wow factor in it. You didn't make the tunes yourself so why not put them together creativlely ?Too many djs these days are just boring. The actual art and technical side of djing is being lost Slapping the last 32 bars of a tune into the intro of another won't make you stand out against a sea of mediocrity these days, Its all been done before many many times. Why not at least Try and be creative.? Raise the bar maybe ?

Or basically just stand there and pretend your doing something other than playing a Record/Cd ZOMG Amazing what a dj !!

IMO

What would've happened if Scratch perverts or Craze or Jazzy Jeff just decided to play 10 tunes and hour beat matched slowly ?
[quote]
im not taking it too seriously, im just sick of hearing the same rant after so many years.

of course the perverts or jazzy jeff wouldnt be the same, but on the flip side of the coin, neither would tenaglia or digweed if they had been churning through 10 tunes every three minutes.

all im saying, is not everyone agrees with your idea of 'wow factor'.

Wow bro, pants are on, just telling it how it is to you very non-constructive criticism

I know you're older, joke towards listeners, not you

I can't have a 3rd deck in clubs side room, which only has the 2

All my heroes really don't get through much more than 10 tracks an hour at all, some do, some do even less due to long building, epic tracks rather than smashing lots of tracks tracks together in a short time...it's a different style of DJing, it's a different style of music, and there's nothing wrong with it, as there's nothing wrong with playing more tracks on short timeframe, diff strokes/folks man, stop being a cock.

http://www.johndigweed.com/allshows.asp

Easily as many 1 hour sets by people with 10 tracks or less as there are people playing more than 10, suppose all these guys suck, too, eh?

Yeah, half the set is cueing and selecting, so what? Selection and playing tracks which stand up on their own and speak well for themselves is paramount to throwing tracks together for only short periods of time with some styles, frankly your style can lead to messier mixing and nothing like the flow and programming these cans do! It's fun, don't get me wrong, but they're worlds apart really.

If you'd come on and dissed the mix having listened to it because the mixing was shit, it was all out of phrase, had clashing keys, flow and programming suck etc you'd have a more valid argument than dissing how many tracks are on it! So it's not YOUR style, I know that, I said you wouldn't even like the music most likely, why you being such a twat about it?

Do what works for you, I'll do what works for me...you're having fun, right? So am I :thumb's up:

Cheers Mel, well said.

Pete you need to stop being such a little bitch TBH. You post a mix up I give you some feedback Thats all .I don't call you shit or a cock or even your musics shit at all Just basically say play 10 tunes an hour is lame thats all and doesn't take any skill. You didn't make the tunes so why be so precious about it ?

Then the standard old Insanity Kneejerk reaction "Your a cock" "your musics Shit"
starts up. Dude don't be so precious you fragile little man. Your just playing someone elses tunes Its not a big deal what your doing isn't rocket science stop trying to make out its some big deal

We can talk about if or when you come over to welly man we all know your a lot different in real life so quit the hardman internet persona man its laughable really

wtf are you on about, dunny? ill make it easy for you.. NOT EVERYONE LIKES THE SAME THINGS YOU LIKE. and, NOT EVERYONE LIKES THE SAME THINGS I LIKE.

im not telling you what i like is better, im merely telling you its different. how did you get that i want to take you on from that?! i dont need to show you how its done, you know that already, you have been doing this for years and you do what you do well.

as for pete needing to calm down, again, he is simply making a point. he never said you were a cock, or your music was shit. he said you are being a twat about this, and i agree. you were the one who stormed in here teasing him for only playing a certain amount of tracks. you were the one who came in and took the piss. that wasnt constructive criticism at all. you cant give someone constructive feedback over a mix unless you have listened to it. have you? then sweet, feel free to give him some pointers. until then, all you are doing is getting on the same rant i used to hear out of you when you were stillm working at sandwiches.

i love you heaps, bro, but get some new subject matter.

Laughing You didn't know the digs at types of music were a joke? Laughing Wow, I gave you too much credit.

I like breaks, I used to play shit loads of it, I still HAVE shit loads of it, I was just giving you shit back, douchebag.

Playing 10 tunes an hour doesn't take any skill? Sorry bro, I called you a cock, because you're being a fucking cock...so there's no skill in programming, flow, track selection, EQ'ing, musical key selection, holding 2 min long mixes?!?! Nope, none at all...as said, there's only 3-4 mins of any track playing by itself, allow 2 mins to flick through tracks finding what you think is the right track, 30 secs for some pre-cueing to get an beat match, then it's all of 1.5mins waiting for the right mix point for it's in phrase and the flow works...woe is fucking me, he's not doing something for a minute and a half, hang the fucking DJ man! Rolling Eyes

You're being a little bitch here bro, and the sad thing, as Mel can testify too, you ARE like this in real life...I'm being defensive, "precious" as you put it, about this, because you're fucking out of line, speaking from an ignorant/biased standpoint, and yes, being a fucking dick...how's all that working out for you? There's no knee jerk reactions, I'm calling a spade a spade, and defending my stand point against your bullshit criticism.
[quote]
Can you please take your stupid fucking genre wars somewhere else.

[quote]
actually, mish, rather than a genre war it was a stated "deal with it" to someone who came in here purposely to flame. if you read back over the posts i never said one genre was better than another, i merely tried to point out how relevant they all are to different people.

i cant stand the whole "my music is better than yours " diatribe. its all good in jest, but not when its a purposeful bait at someone. especially when all that someone was doing was trying to share his latest mix.

sorry if that offended, but sometimes we gotta stick up for peeps, imo. Smile
[quote]
Yah, I was joking with the genre slating comments, mish, just defending my mix/that genre to dunsta's tardo comments
