The Church

Has people's perception of this place changed since it was opened?

I remember there used to be a bit of negative feeback about the Church on the main messageboard not long after it open ( I think it was all about Adam Bomb calling it the best nightclub in New Zealand ).

Personally, I've never found anything wrong with it - in fact, I really like the place, so I'm just wondering how those that live in Christchurch feel about it now.

First time I went there was for Unity, had a nice atmosphere, even though I didn't like the HH they were playing that nite!

i think maybe people carried their ill feelings for
Trinity (i think that was the name) over to the
Church. don't know. it's got a nice feel. not really
my cup of tea musicwise generally, but i still go
sometimes.

Yeah, my first time in there was unity as well. Didnt mind it at all, but hardly ever go there for some reason?

i deffinitly carried my ill feelings from trinity towards it (they ripped me off) but now i am begining to change that, my first impression of the church was that is was gonna be like the old trinity i mean inside it still looked pretty similar

the church went off with a huge opening night having steve blake play!!!

...since then though the standard has dropped-most chicks that i have talked to don't feel safe in the church...i mean which other nite club has had stabbings and rapes in and around it??? i was in there a while ago and there was a fight breaking out in the back bar...name me one other dance bar in NZ that that happens in?? none i would say!!

AND whats the deal with the hot dog stand...i thought that sort of stuff was for the bog and the strip!!

i mean have got friends that work at the church so will always drop in and check it out but i think that it needs to have a hard look at the people that it lets in the door..i must admit it has got alot better to what it has been and give credit to the door staff for this. the church does have some good qualities in that it introduces people into danmce tunes and makes them feel welcome to come and cherck it out with club nights thurs, fri, sat.

the church has lost alot of respect from what i have heard...but there is no reason why it cannot regain this respect from a very picky chch dance crowd.

my mate from chch isnt really into the dance side of things but he recommended it ?

Well, I'd recommend it too. I've never seen any problems with it when I've been there. The upstairs part is pretty cool too with a pool table and couches to chill and relax in.

Go there, it's not bad at all...
