Meet the STARS!:
? PROFESSOR GREEN
After the success of our last warehouse event with Example we thought we'd give you some more of what we know you want! Another chart topping but totally cool crossover UK hip hop master.... Professor Green
I’m sure you're all familiar with Green's work as one of the UK's leading Rappers and festival headlining superstars.
With over 1.5 million fans on facebook and every single track he releases going to number 1 we reckon this will be another roadblock!
Speaking of which here's a few of those monster hits:
Our first full live guitar band to play Afterparty! Big festival favorite and good friend of the Afterparty crew Jon McClure has been away for a while since his last album and chart smash “Champion of the world” and is officially back with a hot new Reverend & The Makers album!
You might have caught him around the UK recently as he supported Noel Gallagher on his arena tour in stadium sized venues including London’s O2 Arena.
We’re big fans of their new album material, a new direction for the band and it definitely lends itself to our Afterparty warehouse vibe!
Check out their first single (with a free download) – Bassline
Finally we have managed to book this guy! An absolute Inspiration to us as DJs, and we know all the older heads are going to be going crazy over this booking! We give you Cut & Paste master DJ YODA!
DJ Yoda was instrumental in creating the bootleg ‘cut-up’ mixing style. Nearly a decade later, in an era of playlist-skipping and remixes of bootlegs of bootlegs, he’s more relevant than ever.
DJ Yoda is no ordinary scratch DJ. His seminal How To Cut & Paste series showcased a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”, whilst Hip Hop Connection voted him “one of the top three DJs in the world”.
From hip-hop beginnings, DJ Yoda has evolved in the past ten years, using his turntable skills and diverse influences as varied as Funk, B-more, Kuduro, Reggae, Drum ‘n’ Bass and even Big Band Swing and Country & Western to make unashamed party music. He can be found cutting the Indiana Jones theme with woofer-worrying Dubstep or The Muppet Theme with MIA. His shows are peppered with Film, TV and YouTube samples and visuals that lift his sets to new and stratospheric heights.
Trail-blazing into the world of the audio-visual he pioneered a new art form, using cutting edge technology that he has been instrumental in developing, to scratch and mix visuals on top of his DJ sets in the clubs. Starting out by re-scoring both ‘The Goonies’ and ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ on the festival circuit in 2003 and 2004, DJ Yoda went on to transform the average night out into a fusion of clubbing and the movies.
If you haven’t heard his cut & paste mix cds then go and find them now (Especially the 80’s one which is pure genius!
Recent highlights for DJ Yoda include:
- Selling out London’s Koko on his critically acclaimed ‘Magic Cinema Show’ tour.
- Performing alongside the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Fatboy Slim.
- Winning the Contemporary Classical Album of 2009 at the Independent Music Awards for the Heritage Orchestra feat DJ Yoda’s G. Prokofiev Concerto For Turntables & Orchestra.
- Releasing the critically-acclaimed Fabric Live 39 mix CD.
- Mixing up the Champions League highlights for ITV’s Champions League Final.
- Performing with Lily Allen providing exclusive visuals.
- Playing on the same bill as Steve Martin, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock at the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.
- Doing a tour of UK Cinemas with his live DJ Yoda AV Show

Our Afterparty “Boy done good” returns to us after 2 more consecutive back to back USA tours and a mind bending European club schedule.
His Rinse FM Radio show officially goes monthly this Thursday (15th march) 9-11pm (www.rinse.fm) http://www.mixmag.net/words/news/doorly-joins-rinse-fm
Also he’s been mentally busy in the studio writing an albums worth of tracks including collaboration projects with Beardyman, Jake Shears (The Scissor Sisters), Grandmaster Flash, The Jungle Brothers & Reverend & The Makers.
As we approach the summer this will be the last time you can catch Doorly in Huddersfield until October as he hits the road once again to play all of the worlds major summer festivals, as well as returning to his summer home in Ibiza to continue his residencies for Ibiza Rocks, Space & a few new events.
Local Huddersfield band about to take over the world!! If you're from the Hudd then you'll probably have heard or maybe even seen these guys before, they've been crafting their sound hard for the last 2 years and now have just Officially been signed to Doorly's World bashing record label "Pigeonhole This!" Their first single on the label will drop around early may and after that point they WILL explode on to the scene in a big way so we thought we'd better book them now while we still can!!, they will be on fairly early so PLEASE make sure you get down early to catch their set as this will be their biggest ever Huddersfield show (So Far!!)
For those of you that don't know about them: EXTRA CURRICULAR are a Hip Hop /Soul / Fusion Group from the HUD. Fronted by Thabo Mkwananzi (Vocals), the group also feature a live horn section, turntables and samplers, alongside electric guitar, bass, and drums. Just like Afterparty the band were formed from an exclusive after-hours jam club. The EC live show is something to be witnessed and they involve the whole crowd from start to finish!
A few members of the band are actually hardcore Afterparty regulars themselves so this is a pretty special moment for us.
