Oh yeah.. If you ever see this - buy it... Amazing early TLB tune. http://www.discogs.com/release/1097

Also.. funny how he used that cartoon character of the black guy and his brotherly sounding name on his releases. Because he thought no-one people wouldn't be as into his music if they knew it was made by a white German guy called Norman ha ha. (true story)

Listening to Tribal Nova now om BP. Nice tune does sound a wee bit out dated (of course). I forgot they didnt really use basslines back then.

Is it on there?.. Shocked

They had great basslines BITD.. just not overpowered, compressed to crap, side-chained stuff. Basslines were probably just as important then though.

The other good tune on the EP was called "Bad House Music"... Just found it on BP.

Oh.. I think the samples disguise just how massive some of the basslines were. Basslines used to be much lower frequency.. They tend to disappear on BP sample clips.

Much of those low-mids accentuate the bass sounds - giving them more presence... Making a full, warm, powerful bassline without it dominating the other elements is very hard to do. Many producers don't bother, they just compress the hell out of it and disguise it..

Terry Lee Brown is a very good producer. Not really into his stuff much anymore but he was a long way ahead of most others in the 90s.
