its so obvious vodafone isnt gona change their txting rates - they probably make millions off it

BUT - what bout us, the customers they "CARE" about ???

If Vodafone decide to match Telecom with the texting rates Telecom will just make it cheaper for their customers. Plus Vodafone will be operating at a loss if they did that. Telecom have their massive monopoly of landlines to balance it out for them.
Along with that why would Vodafone want to copy Telecom, that would make them just like Telecom as they copy Vodafone all the time.

Telecom may have the monopoly with the landlines to make money. But any organisation would be idiotic to keep dropping prices and offering deals that lost them money.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what tha facts are, but it seems odd that people keep on saying Telecom can carry on undercutting Vodafone, when this doesn't make much business sense to carry on operating at a loss indefinately.

You're right, it doesn't make business sense at all. They want Vodafone's customers and will stop at nothing to get them, even if that means they run their mobile side at a loss. Go figure...

Yeah the $10 text is taking a "few" customers from Vodafone... but they're not the only people using mobile phones

So now that Telecom has stopped using the "Our coverage is better than yours" sales technique it would appear the "Our texting is cheaper than yours" had come into play... yeah... good one

Quite often I'd have a knock at the door from a Telecom salesperson asking me if I want to go to Telecom for my mobile services.. when I ask what the benefits are the answer used to be "Our coverage is better" now its "Our texting is cheaper" The same is true within the retail stores, go into a Vodafone retail store and your told AT LEAST 5 benefits...

That's funny I asked vodafone why I should choose them over telecom and they couldn't give me 2 reasons.

The whole argument is stupid, people can just go with whatever suits them best.

A) vodafone will NEVER implement $10 texting.

B) telecom will CONTINUE to dig themselves into deeper holes with their way-off-the-mark marketing strategies.

C) some of you MIGHT eventually realise that vodafone and telecom are corporations. They just want your money. They don't really care what you think.
