ok, all my life i've heard people talk about 'tea chests' when transporting stuff to/from the uk. is there a specific tea chest company that everyone uses? or is it a myth, and in reality they are really just plain old overpriced cardboard boxes from any old freight company?

has anyone had any good experiences with freight companies to or from UK/NZ?

my last experience was pretty shite really. the nz side didn't tell us that we would have to pay a ridiculous amount at this end to release the bag from custom. the total cost ended up being at least 4 times what the extra clothes in the bag would've cost to replace. rude.

any advice?

I don't think tea chest have been around since I was born ! heh - cardboard boxes (not previously used for produce) is the way to go.

I work in freight, drop me an email and I can give you a guideline.

I also have a friend working in freight in London that I can put you on to Smile

I used to work for a shipping company and the boxes we used were called tea chests but there were just a reinforced cardboard box. I would say companies would just call them that so you can get an indication of the size Smile
