It is a scary thought, but with USA out of the way NZ do have a possible chance of winning the whole damn tournament.

We've got gutsy enough players to keep us in contention up until the last 4 minutes of a match. And from there, we have the best coach at the World Champs who can design game winning plays to pick us up two more victories.

Didn't we beat lithuania, anyway, absolutely amazing result. This definitely ranks as the best sporting achievement ever by an NZ team. Easily beat the all whites in 92 and the americas cup wins. Hard to believe we have done so well in a sport that NZ doesn't even play that much, especially without our best player.

to have them win the whole thing would not be impossible. but win or lose from now on they can be very proud of themselves. this effort is well up there with (above even) the time the all whites went to the world cup or that time when those rugby guys won that world cup thingee.

Heh, this is so beyond anything in Rugby. The All Blacks could never compare to this! Basketball is the second biggest sport in the world behind soccer.

They should hold a competition like that somewhere in Europe or in South America ...they'd probably pack the stadiums there where there might be a bit more appreciation. The US public only turn up when their own team is playing.

Remember, those stadiums are MUCH bigger than what they look. The one they played in today had 3000 people in the crowd (that's roughly how many would turn up to a game here I would hazard a guess?), but had a total capacity of 50,000.

But anyway, good on the boys, what a nailbiter that game was!

But one of the most beautiful moments was definitely beating the aussies in the qualifier... they were STUNNED!!!!! LOL what a victory!

they still playoff for bronze against germany tomorrow.
