There sure is a lot of optimistic ramblings from our cricket journos on this. I see their point on our squad looking decent....but its more a case of "is capable of"...rather than "is going to". To be honest I think we lack a flat out big game match winner to go all the way, but it is 20/20 so who knows. With our squad our tactics are transperant. Crash it about with th bat hoping someone comes off ....then strangle them with spin. alriiiiiighty

Of the other teams/looking at sqauds..... India seem weakend without Tendulker and Shewag, I would predict SA except for their All Black esk mannerisms of bombing tournaments. Maybe England will go ok. Not real sure how individuals are tracking.... I despise the EPL

Those odds were to make the final, but they had them under 'to win the tournament' tab. Now fixed along with the addition of other odds. Still, the NZ TAB odds are worse than others.

Yeah if only it was that simple ... agree SA on a slow pitch is flakey but they scored 172 against India on a very slow pitch in a game that just seemed like none of them can bat.

Well I wouldn't describe you guys as flakey, I just think that we're better suited for the slow pitches with the spin attack and Styris type plodders. Plus your way quicker bowlers might be easier to get away on the slower wicket.

That game was kinda hard to watch. Just really didn't see any urgency from the black caps today :/
Nobody really looked comfortable, way too many < 6 run overs. It's bad enough how the black caps always have a habit in ODIs to spend 20 overs "rebuilding" and put so much pressure on the tail, but fucked if we're gunna get away with that in t20

We just aren't equipped to hit quick bowlers square of the wicket on the quick pitches. It wasn't that they didn't have the intent, they just didn't have the ability. Even Kallis at 135ish is a real handful for us on quicker decks because he hits the pitch hard and none of our players have the game to combat it, except *gasp* Hopkins.

Our only chance was a slow pitch. Having heard today that the final will be played on that pitch - there's not a chance we can win this tourny. I don't think the Lankans really have a chance either. England shaping up reasonably well oddly. Although if KP goes home to be a Dad it might mix it up for them.

Quite an interesting tournament shaping up, but this one isn't for us.

Credit where its due. Morne Morkel and Kallis bowled really good tight lines and didn't give us too much. The difference really though was Albie Morkel's 40 off 18 balls. He kept smashing Southee and yet Southee still persisted with trying to bowl yorkers. It was obvious Morkel was loving the full deliveries and really, Southee should have shown some variation. Needed to play smarter.

I was surprised Millsy didn't get a run on this pitch. I would have had him in for Oram, not that Danny or the selectors would ever drop Oram when he's fit. Sure we lose that extra hitter down the order but Millsy, while not being in quite the same class, can still smash a ball pretty hard and he's far more penetrative as a bowler.

Danny looked pretty sore while batting, wouldn't be surprised if he was out of sundays game against the Pakis.

Have it from a very reliable source that Mills should not even be there due to not being fully recovered from his shoulder surgery.

We've got a few here dude. Obviously there are a decent amount of cricketers coming our of South Africa as they prefer the lifestyle overseas, but the English choice is a simple one (especially for your average professional cricketer)...
