Nice work! I'd only ever been into that shithole of a place for quiet post work drinks/nibbles and thought it'd be an awesome venue to rock out as a party!

Best of luck with it! I hope for your sake the Shooters regulars are down with it.

What's the ideal capacity for that place?

It is indeed...and while I don't like being a negative nancy, there's always the risk that A) the people into the type of music being played are a bit iffy about the venue and B) the venue regulars who go there every weekend, for free, turn up and find the usual (utter shit!) music they love isn't being played and it's going to cost them lots to get in too.

And she's no small venue to try and fill!

Power to ya's, I really hope if goes swimmingly...my advice...promote the living fuck out of it...give single comp tickets away by the bundles on the radio and to uni students...no one goes partying alone, 1 ticket given away usuaully means 1 ticket paid for as they bring their partner/mate!

Best of luck!

I'm a manager at Shooters and think this event will be really good for the place. I know the place doesn't have the best rep around town, but with an event like this I'm sure it will do good things for it.

Yay looking forward to it. Will be good to see Jess and Chaioman again!

to be honest you're pretty much assured that 500 odd kids will be out there purely to see upbeats play. dunno bout the rest of the lineup popularity wise but upbeats is right up there with concord dawn as far as shit hot names go Smile

yeah I can see this as being good for the scene as long as Shan and the team do it right (which I am sure they will...), by having the commercial music in there as well as the other options, we might gain some more followers in our scene which can only be good. As for people not wanting to pay to get in, that will always happen at regular clubs used as venues, but quite often is good for keeping people you don't want in there out. And lastly, don't know how much of the D+B massive will pull themselves away from sandwiches for the night but the Upbeats have definitely got a commercial following now (looking at the turnout of the last few gigs...) so I think they will be a good draw-card for the night.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes down, and if it's good it could be the start of regular events in the venue!! Good luck with the behind house stuff tomatoe_boy, lets see everyone there to support an exciting new idea for our cities nightlife Wink

Well, look at all the names that are playing in each zone, each DJ has got their own following and as long as each DJ brings their own crowds to support them itll be a full house.
Im sure each DJ has at least 20 friends and with the 500 that "THE UPBEATS" may bring and the SHOOTERS regulars thats adds upto about 1200 people a full house and a PHAT ASS PARTY!...

It shouldnt matter where your fav djs play.... we have taken over shooters for the night people...and have made it Super Club! Aye? Confused

He only plays 1 Sharkboy tune. And I'd be bloody happy if he just played that tune all night long. That song has a huge sentimental value (which is not to be discussed on public forums) to alot of people in the scene, hence why it always get played.

Shooters is an AWESOME venue, why is it a total shame? Shooters is prob the most perfect venue in Welly to hold a gig like this. Its a beautiful building and should have been used b4, it has sooo much potential.

The only shame buddy, is lameass people like yourself who have such a negative attitude to people trying to do something different in Wellington. Rolling Eyes Moon

hmmm... i'm still a bit hesitant about this purely because it's at shooters, i reckon the hip hop zone will mean a lot of the shooters regulars will still end up paying to come in... even so i'm gonna come.

what's the deal with the sound system? are they dragging a decent one in or just using the one at shooters? if so, what sorta quality is it? don't wanna be dancing to a clock radio on full volume!
[quote]
.... The sound systems and lighting is all taking care of! ... We cant have all these awesome Djs playing on a B grade system can we....

Hip Hop always brings a mainstream crowd... but thats all good! It packs out the venue and adds to the experience hehe... Thats why we need all you DnB and dance regulars there!
