So, I've begun trying to figure out who I will vote for and am interested in what peoples views of the candidates are etc

Pretty much just Banks and Brown in the running.

Be great if we could keep the thread sensible, although we know how hard that can be when politics is involved.

right - banks
left - brown

those who want an intelligent choice - buggered

I don't think any of the candidates deserve my vote

That's my feeling, maybe it is the lesser of 2 evils

Neither came across very well in the 3 news debate, mind you it was hardly a great forum for it

[IMO]
Banks has done a good job in the last term at doing very very little, however I do not see this trend continuing if he were to be re-elected.
Brown has done some good things in Manukau but is a bit flakey.
Voting for anybody but Banks or Brown will simply split the vote at this point and for such an important position to vote for somebody that is reasonably 'unknown' in terms of a acting as a mayor would be rather silly.
Thus Brown has my vote.

Brown, though none of the candidates are particularly inspiring. Banks lack of enthusiasm for much needed PT infrastructure development means I could never vote for him.

Can't stand Bank's politics or ideology, but Brown is a raving loon, beaten in those stakes only by Williams.

It's depressing that the leadership race has no better candidates than Brown and Banks. Rather than deciding who I want, it has come down to deciding who will make less of a botched job of it.

Definitely comes down to the lesser of two evils and I think Brown needs to be given a break. His wife is dying of cancer which is stressful enough. Banks is just as crazy as the rest of 'em Kris. Remind me to tell you about the "I LOVE TRUCKS!" interview sometime.
[quote]
Besides of which, Kris B I told you you should have run for super city mayor!
[quote]
Banks loves trucks? *I* love trucks! He's the man for me!
[quote]
Explain this love of trucks Angie? I am intrigued.
[quote]
Best outcome is probably whomever comes third actually gets a good vote so people are encouraged to run in 2013...

IMO, outsourcing for the mayoralty would be epic. Vote Rudi Guiliani!!!!
[quote]
Too hell with Rudi, Bo Jo is your man.

lulz, Tim Shadbolt ftw.

vote for the candidate you prefer

I might vote for Rob Thomas on the council.
