Um, Jono, to be honest I would approach someone like Matt Berquist, before Highlanders scooped him. I know they've tried Delany, who btw would be my first choice 1st 5/8 after Carter. But yeah, draft is pretty shit and just really shows how depleted Auckland 5/8 stocks are...

Oh and Melbourne gets to have a Super team too, from 2011 that is.

I've always found the draft a bit strange, I think that the franchises should be able to protect their whole squad from the draft OR the NZRFU should be more bullish about ensuring great players aren't sitting on the bench hoping for an injury.

I'm pretty much in a no win, if you guys lose, you will say it's because Brett is a flakey Cantabrian, if you win you will say it's because he moved to the Blues for more consistent game time, which made him a better player

Dan is a good mate. A solid rugby player too. However he was never a No 10. If you seen him play full-back, or even 2nd 5/8, you would know what I mean.

Agree there are mpre NH players in the swuad than I thought would happen. Im picking this will lead to one of the Blues better seasons of late

Auckland finished half a dozen places ABOVE NH in the standings, which matters a shitload more than "head to head" results.

I would tend to agree with you, except Ive heard you spout off many times about how the battle of the bridge is Auckland biggest game of the season
