Since the old thread is gone...here's a new one.

Now talk rugby!
[quote]
Is Lomu in the Super 12? Cause I watched what now this morning and know all about his injuries!
[quote]
he's out for a month i think angels. his time is long up anyway Wink
[quote]
Hes still a youngin tho!
[quote]
Grandmapolice... Laughing
[quote]
A couple of good results IMO specially that game at Carisbrook on Friday Wink and of course the continued winning run that the Hurricanes are enjoying. Tana had a stunner from what I saw.
[quote]
A shocker of a week for me again... 2/5 Crying or Very sad 4 pretty close games (three 3 point margin games) and the chiefs...
[quote]
I only got 3 Mad
its all good tho,NZ teams are still the top 4 Smile

Good week for me this week, 4 out of 5.

The hurricanes are loooking good. Interesting comments by Tana on the weekend. Basically the hurricanes defence is trusting each other now and looking more solid. Colin Cooper looks to have the goods as a coach tahts for sure.
[quote]
Colin Cooper is the man, also dont forget that he was ass.coach @ crusaders so some of their defrensive patterns and strategies will be helping us now!

Tana is imo the best player in the world!

name anyone else that has the workrate/talent/respect that he has ?

weve got a great young team that will only get better!

Hurricanes are sitting pretty in 2nd place Cool
[quote]
The crusaders are in desparate need of Merhtens at the moment.
[quote]
I think the loss might do the Blues some good if they want to win the championship. They won't be as complacent for the remaining games. Cool
[quote]
Well the win certainly didn't do the highlanders much good, losing mailing and williams for a decent period. Possibly others as well.
[quote]
At least they have a bye this weekend to prevent any further injuries for now...
[quote]
I have a really stupid question but why is it called a bye fency ..
[quote]
Good question Mindblank... Rolling Eyes
[quote]
hehe fency ..

I always thought it was a bi .. 2 weeks .. but .. now i do not have a clue :/
[quote]
Great 2nd half performances by the Blues and the Hurricanes, a gutsy win to the Crusaders and finally another win for the Chiefs. Not a bad weekend of Rugby. 4/5
[quote]
Yeah good weekend for me 2, got 4/6

Hey Fency what is your player name, add Nans to your list Cool
[quote]
I'm not in that competition Nanz, it's a separate one for one of the supplier's for my brother's trade where you can win a signed All Black jersey or liquor vouchers. I'm just doing it for fun because he entered it and doesn't know anything about rugby.

Congratulations Forest. Picking them every week finally paid off eh? Laughing
[quote]
cool Fency Cool
[quote]
go the hurricanes Music Music Music
[quote]
I picked a draw between the highlanders and the 'canes...

needed a wee gamble like that to pop some more points on the board...

yea worked really well
[quote]
42 points in the weekend,227 overall Smile

I stuffed up on the Bulls,I picked - 12 Shocked
and I picked Crusaders 13+

oh well...........

at least the Canes are looking like real contenders, sitting cool for a home semi final Cool
[quote]
42 points????? Pink Winky

they don't call you flukey fewtrell for nothing
hehehehehe

just joking buddy
[quote]
3 NZ sides all but certain in the semis and a 4th a distinct possibility. Nonu is looking good at the moment, could be a bolter in the AB's. Didn't see much else this weekend.
[quote]
I meant I got 5/6. Just realised this now Laughing
[quote]
Looks like it's going to be an ALL NZ semi-final line up. The Blues look like the only team to have secured a home semi-final. The Hurricanes vs Brumbies is the match of the round. A lot at stake for the Brumbies especially. However if the Highlanders beat the Warratahs, it will all be to no avail.
[quote]
The Blues looked up a bit rusty last night...must have been the rain.

They'll need to lift their game immensley if they want to win the championship though...I think they've been a bit complacent in their last couple of games.
[quote]
wasnt the most convincing win from the Blues but they won anyways, now they are guaranteed a semi final spot
[quote]
Very poor week for NZ teams. Wasn't surprised to see the Hurricanes lose (loyalty meant I had to pick them in the virtual super 12 unfortunately) with brumbies needing a win, hurricanes off the bye and with so'oialo out. Looking like one of the aussie teams could sneak in now.
[quote]
The Highlanders was a shocker after last week :O I thought Maines would have them on target.
I went with my heart and backed the hurricanes too JaH Sad
Not a great week, but could have been worse.
[quote]
fuck it.

Nova got the same amount of points as me now.
[quote]
i dont think i have any chance of catching up, but i reckon im doin well considering i started in the 5th round of the competition
[quote]
The Highlanders, Brumbies, NSW and Bulls are all in contention for that last semi-final spot. If the Brumbies beat the Crusaders they're in. I haven't worked out the other permutations yet. All the games except for the Stormers vs Cats are important. However, if the Brumbies beat the Crusaders on Friday then the other matches will only count for final standings. Should be interesting...
[quote]
I still think the Crusaders have a chance. Smile
[quote]
Im hoping the Hurricanes beat the Blues and the Brumbies beat the Crusaders then we get a home semi in Wellington Smile
[quote]
This could be the one time that I want the Crusaders to win this season, but hopefully they can hold off the improving Brumbies. I think that the Highlanders can rise to the occasion over the Reds if there is still a chance for the 4th playoff spot after friday night.
[quote]
Richy said:

That's exactly what i'm hoping too Richy

Go the Canes Music Music
[quote]
I would like that scenario, but I'd rather see the aussies shut out of the semis altogether.
[quote]
Fuck, I hate how everybody up here is so anti Christchurch. I support the Crusaders bc its where Im from, and Im not ashamed, yet I get shit.. pffft cunts who give me shit Confused Froggy
[quote]
I think you're generally seeing something that isn't there. Fitzy and richy (and to a lesser extent myself) want to see the hurricanes do well, hence the comments. We aren't fixated with how the crusaders do like you seem to think.
[quote]
the only reason I want the crusaders to lose is to give us (wgtn) a chance of a home semi, in any other scenario I would back canterbury.

also you have to remember that canterbury supporters are renowned for being one-eyed !

GO THE CANES Very Happy
[quote]
If were not from Canty then sure were going to bag them, and can't you see why when they rest players in the game against the brumbies. Rolling Eyes
[quote]
Fortysix&2
I have no problems with canterbury, A great team thats been the stand out preformer of Super 12

My comments were based on me being a One eyed Wellington Supporter, that would Love to see a Super 12 semi in the Capital....

How many semi's have Canterbury had at home???????

Share it round, I say Music
[quote]
Ooooooh it's SO tempting to provoke you about this, 46 Razz

I haven't noticed anything much coming from Aucklanders that would lead to a stereotype of us hating Canterbury. The only thing you could hold against them is having more All Blacks than they have deserved in the past.
[quote]
Well this has to be the hardest week of Virtual Super12 picks yet..

All 6 games could go either way

Mr. Green lets the games begin.
[quote]
yip its make or break time for me in the office comp, Im in 4th place out of my workmates in the virtual s12, 4 points off 3rd spot so if I can sneak past that guy Im in the $$$$ . Very Happy
[quote]
The highlanders and NSW both blew their chances of a semi-final birth by losing (highlanders) and not getting a bonus point (NSW). The semi-finals have the top 2 attacking teams in the competion. I'm picking Auckland and the Crusaders to make the final. They could be close games though..with the hurricanes and brumbies both capable of beating their more favoured opponents away from home.

Cool

Auckland - Crusaders final, Eden Park, 12 days time Very Happy
[quote]
i ended up on 219, gotta make sure that i start from the 1st round next time
[quote]
I assume this carries on til the end. I'm going to not pick the hurricanes this time. I'll be really pissed off if they win. Well actually I'll be really happy and only pissed off if it means maestro beats me. Smile
[quote]
Thanks JaH Smile

Looks like it does run through to the finals - Blues vs. Brumbies has appeared in the picks section today.
[quote]
The Hurricanes shouldn't have broken up the Umaga-Nonu combination. He was wasted on the wing. They should've found a replacement winger instead.
[quote]
i wonder how much Auckland are gonna miss Rupeni Caucaunibuca this weekend as he has been sidelined cos of a stress fracture in his leg. Hopefully it shouldnt effect them 2 much
[quote]
Agree fency, and I'm sure cooper would concede that point too. Be interesting to see the difference nonu at centre and so'oialo back in the pack makes. Some people seem to have written the hurricanes off completely, I don't see it that way at all.
[quote]
The Hurricanes can beat any team on their day, they just need to have a good start, reduce mistakes & play to there strenghts,

They can't play catch up footy, where as the cantab's are masters of this. Music
[quote]
da brumbies have the following on their injured list

Andrew "Walk-a-bout" Walker
Stephen "Mummys boy" Larkham
Stirling "Cigarette Branded Baby" Mortlock

Blues by 20+

and as much as I love my dreadlocked brothers in the Canes....Crusaders by 12 or under....
[quote]
Just off the topic a little here...I really think that NPC should come before the Super 12 comp (like a bit of a buildup for Super 12) who agrees?
[quote]
Yeah good idea, CM

but Aussie for one doesn't have any thing like an NPC
& NZ AUS & SA use the Super 12 as a warm up to the International season.

In a way the NPC does come before the super 12,

players that performed during the 2002 NPC were rewarded with Super 12 contracts for 2003.
[quote]
the other consideration is club rugby. having NPC first would really affect that, although they could always just start later I suppose.
[quote]
oh and just quietly

Damien 262 points

ahead of nova thank you.

True - never really thought of that! It would stuff club rugby up quite majorly!
[quote]
Yes it would.....u dont want to mess up the grassroots.

sheesh.

back in my day we would have scrum practise against the local prize bull.

I'm now 348th out of 77681 Shocked Stoked!

I will be picking with my heart this weekend though *fingers crossed*
[quote]
yip the final should be a cracker

All Black Trial in the making
[quote]
its gonna be a cracker of a final Smile

but im backing the blues of course Very Happy
[quote]
def will be a cracker of a final

i got the blues by 15
[quote]
I'm still making up my mind on likely winner. Thinking AK at the moment, but 15 points is a very bold prediction.
[quote]
Im swinging towards the Blues BUT the Crusaders have to be rated highly, theyre in their 5th final, the Blues their 3rd so this is the biggest match in S12 history, ever.

add the fact its WC year and what I just said takes some serious meaning to it.....
[quote]
Auckland have it in the backs, no doubt. But without the ball that's no good to them. I'd have to give the advantage in the forwards to Canterbury, hence the attacking vigor of the Blues' backs maybe not much use, if they dont have the ball. Carlos Spencer's kicking is not so hot either, either in play tactical or for goal. Canterbury's tactical kicking in the semi was awesome, so I have to give the advantage to Canterbury in that department too. So, two out of three for Canterbury when it comes to skills.

But.... the Auckland crowd could play a role, and that would make it two out of four for Auckland (Backs in running play, and home advantage).

All in all a very close match up. But I'm picking Cannnabry 32-27. Should be a pearler.
[quote]
some good points there mate, however I disagree about Spencers kicking, this season he has been awesome with the boot,imo.....

its gona be a close game and at the moment I cant decide who's gona win ???
[quote]
in the herald this morn i read that Steve Devine is probably gonna miss out on the final, but Jusin Collins is looking good.

They have to undertake a test this morning to determine whether they are fit to play or not.

It would be a slight blow to the Blues if they do lose Devine
[quote]
Yeah Devine is out unfortunately. However Gibson is a more than adequate replacement. But it's a big blow for the Blues losing that inside-backs combination. The Crusaders will go in as favourites with all their All-Black incumbants. It'll be a tough ask for the Blues...But they can do it.

Go the Blues! Cool
