SUPER 12 rugby 2003

What a performance by the Blues last night, ending the Crusader's 15-match win streak. I've never seen a backline with so much speed to burn too. I think Henry's made a difference and installed back into the Blues what's been missing for a while. It'll be interesting to see how they go for the rest of the season and to see if Super 12 form translates into All Black selection for the super 12 teams...

...and how good is it to have to NZ teams at the top of the table. with the rest close behind. Look at the bottom of the table, 5 teams from SA and Aus looking quite happy down there.

I would say that super 12 form should translate into All Black selection and based on the Blues performance there maight be a few changes in the All Black starting 15.

I think it might take a bit more than 1 loss in 15 for there to be any huge overhaul of the AB's, remembering that a lot of the Fijian wingers are not yet elegible to play for NZ. The Crusaders pack still performed well.

A likely scenario is that we COULD have 3 if not 4 teams in the top 4 at the end of the season,how good is that for the AB's !

A good win for the Hurricanes on friday,Nonu is looking awesome in the midfield with umaga,hopefully its a permanent move !

Only 3 games in tho. There is still a lot of time for improvement from some teams. The table now is still pretty tight around the top/middle.

the great wthing about the blues win was it was because they have raised their standard rather than the crusaders dropping off (to a large extent anyway).

Agree that nonu is looking good. Could be a bolter into the AB squad if he keeps up his form.

A mate of mine who plays top level club rugby said at the start of the year to watch out for Nonu and that he thought he would be in the AB's within a year or two! his prediction is looking pretty good so far.
Young Tim Fairbrother is a good prospect aswell as long as he isnt thrown int international rugby to soon.

The Crusaders pack still looked dominant, but the what the Blues did with the ball was way more effective. Their defence was very aggressive as well which is was what helped them win.

Although it's very early on in the season still, you'll find that in past Super 12 history, teams that start well, carry on the form throughout the season. NSW and Crusaders look to be top 4 contenders and the Blues have beaten them both already

It should be interesting to see how the Highlanders go this season under Laurie Mains too...

The Highlanders really haven't been tested yet. It should be interesting to see how they go in South Africa and the top teams...

They lost overnight. Only saw the last 10 minutes or so, but the number of mistakes was shocking in that. Didn't seem to be much leadership either.

The Blues have a reshuffled team this week with Gibson in for an injured Devine, Rico Gear at centre and Muliaiina to fullback, Howlett back on the right wing and the that other Fijian winger rested. Xavier Rush returns to No. 8 with Collins back to the blindside and both the reserve props having a game. Hopefully the bye and these changes don't have an effect on the Blues making it 4/4 against the Reds.

Tuilevu out for 6 weeks, well justified for that shocking act. The highlanders may appeal but I doubt the penalty will be changed much, if at all. Oh well, at least a player eligible for the all blacks will get a run.
