:Ello there, just discovered this forum amongst the swathes of trance and hard house related shit on this site. Its nice to read the opinions of other techno fans- all my mates are into house or dnb. Love the dnb scene but can't stand the Auckland house mafia, especially since techno is completely overshadowed as a result of their popularity. What will it take for Aucklanders to wake up to the fact that techno is the ultimate form of electronic music, and that house djs are nothin but posers? I'm off to do some heckling on the hard house forum

Somehow i doubt heckling others for thier choice in music is going to be an effective way of making them "see the light".

I doubt that the majority of those who listen to hard house and trance would ever see the light. They seem to accord more importance to getting off their faces than what they are listening to. Drug addled music for addled minds

Accept that everyone is different, and that some people get have not ventured out to find different genre's.
Thier time will come, but it isn't going to happen when you are bagging people for something that you don't like. There just isn't any need for it my dear.

Sounds cheesy - but stay positive and be thankful that you have found 'the light' to this amazing genre odf music, and that people will eventually mature into/out of trance etc etc

Weeell, i am a bit snobby when it comes to music, and hey, taking potshots at other genres you don't like makes you feel better. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's being able to voice that opinion that makes it worth having.

But there is a slight difference about having an opinion, and bashing other genre's.

Sure you like Techno.
You don't like Trance etc.

You don't need to put down anyone that does like it because it is just going to cause an argument, and that has been happening way too much on biggie lately, and the moderators will lock the thread as they are just sick of it all!

I agree with all above, I get people all the time telling me Techno is so boring, too fast, not this n that blah blah blah

The only reason there is no techno around is cause people aren't getting out and supporting it. Fu put on atleast 6 gigs a month, there is the occasional Hardsoul, DJ Maya on the East, Blackroom, Fun Poison etc etc

It would be nice to see some more up and coming DJs coming through the woodwork too. Putting on some more underground gigs, doesn't have to be all 20k sound systems and glitzy bars.

Techno is the be all and end all of dance culture.

sure im a techno freak and tend to dis other style,but this negitivaty comes from both sides of the fence...more so when involving HH.

I dont belive the angle of hi NRG events being drug orgies...drugs are evryehere at every sort of event.Some just choose to enduldge more thatn others.

I to myself (dare i say it)liked abit of hard house and a was seen playing it from time to time...but i was always into techno first.
Ive been through every genre and have played the folloing out.Techno ,progressive,hard house,hard trance and drum'n'bass.
And it didnt take me long to get sick of hard house and move on.
After years of mixing different styles one starts to look for somethin more.
And Techno holds that key!! the way that 2 or 3 records can be worked to sound like a clean symphony of mind altering baddness is just fuckin amazing to watch...

but with hardhouse its just mix it in near the end with a chop here and there (which i aint seen much of in aucks)..all those breakdowns very boring ...just mix up to the bass drop...simple really

Once you know the music enough as to seqeunce it....Ones brain is opened,and by exherting energy to finger tips and eq's one can read and basicly write his own tune from the two or three records infront of him.

I try not to be a genre snob, each to their own, etc. but I honestly think Hard House's days are numbered... the sound is tired, and becoming far too commercialised. Producers are churning out tracks, and going for quantity over quality...

Meanwhile, techno is on the verge of a huge resurgence... a lot of djs are slowly moving towards it either from hard house or from tech house

Dont forget (and at the risk of having myself chastised) that HH is an entry level music style, and therefore there will always be plenty more fresh meat.

It amazes me that I still enjoy the sound of the 909 hi hats after all these years, which is what you predominantly get in HH, and of course often in techno, the difference between HH and techno fans is the context in which the sounds are in.

it's true that it's an entry level genre, but there can be other entry level genres.... don't believe that ANY genre will be around forever (at least as a non-obscure genre like techno has been for a while)... you only have to look at the last 20 years of music to see how genres come and go... it'll probably take a while for HH to become really obscure, but I don't think it's going to be as big as it is now for much longer

They have already coined thier own term for generic entry level music havent they? Its "HardDance". HH falls under this category.

remember it was happyhard before this, and british hardcore before that... always a hard entry level music...
And do remember folks you've got to realise that techno isn't as musically obscure as you think - sure the british press don't give a shit about it and the US are going to take another 20 years to catch up, but it's massive everywhere else (or at least most places
