Daniel Ro / UK NZ Hard Trance Dj & Producer...

Déjà Vu is stoked to be presenting Daniel Ro UK / NZ hard trance dj & producer for a Queens Birthday extravaganza @ Double Happy nightclub... this night will host two pumping rooms of sound with Christchurch's finest djs and we will be pumping it up with extra lighting and laser shows brought to you by Psylite Lighting.

Daniel Ro is excited to be returning to Christchurch for the first time in two years with his euphoric, energized & dance floor shaking hard trance!

Widely regarded as one of NZ’s top hard dance DJ’s, his sets are intelligently crafted; building through elements of psy trance, hard trance, hard house and techno he always gets the hands in the air. Daniel has been at this for a long time now; he knows how to move a crowd and has successfully blown the roof off clubs up and down NZ, OZ, his native UK and the USA for the last 8 years.

Daniel first burst into the UK scene back in 2001 and was quickly hailed as a fresh new leading light for the genre, being voted in as the energyuk.net newcomer of the year. His hybrid sound pioneered a new vibe for hard trance and his music has been caned by a who’s who of the hard dance world. His tracks regularly featured in the national music press, (including a single of the month award in IDJ magazine), were licensed to worldwide compilation CD’s and he even managed to get BBC radio 1 airplay thanks to the legendary John Peel. His massive worldwide anthem Remedy propelled him to prominence globally, which saw him playing a host of London and East Anglia’s major promotions, embarking on DJ tours in Australia, New Zealand and the USA and gaining key DJ residences with the huge London event Logic and Global Panic in Sydney.

Making a massive life choice to immigrate to New Zealand at the back end of 2002, he continued to play headline DJ sets up and down New Zealand and Australia, but his production work has been in a four year hiatus, until now! Butcher Boy and Scuba Steve at the ever popular Carbon Recordings (two thirds of the huge hard dance outfit Omega 3 with Tinrib) have taken Daniel on board as one of their major recording artists and he is officially fired up and back with a vengeance!!!

He can be found banging out the tunes with his partner in crime RP, 8-10pm every Wednesday on the Ballistik radio show hosted by UPFM in Auckland. Expect to hear some ripping new music from him this year, and don’t miss the chance to see him tearing up Déjà Vu on Sunday 31st May at Double Happy.

hey stike - not sure if you were there - but it was pretty dam good gig for my first attemp at putting on a decent event for my frineds and CHCH - I don't class myself as professionail promoter as never really done that side much - but I taken alot of good advice for the nest one that my friends want to get involved with to make it another fantastic deja vu experience. these gis I do are for my mates not for anything else - it keeps the scene ticking and them happy and I give far more new and older Djs the op to play out for funtimes

tsonly can learn more and more aye

i totally agree...profits made from gigs should be used to make the next gig(s) better !

with more $ spent on production making the party better for all those ppl that buy tickets to attend....not used to line the promoters own pockets for their own personal spending Confused
[quote]
Fair play - the promoter should pocket some of the coin... after all he has invested time in the event and "time is money", but hopefully Cyan's EGO will now remind him not to post monetary gains from his future events, otherwise the punter will expect more...

BTW I'm aloud to be proud of an achievement like this as it's first time i've ever risked myself and cashflow for a party - the crowd came for wot they wanted - they got what they wanted an walked away with a huge smile and story to talk about for some thime

it not always going to be like that - but hey massive pat on everyones back for getting in behind it and making work so I can share again - so what if I have an ego about - I not selfish person and want to share my nrg to do this for the people who love it and want to spend the moeny to support it

thats enuf from me Smile

Yep, I'll be there for sure - hardhouse gigs seem to be getting fewer and farther between up here so I'll take what I can get.

If you guys book some Welly hard DJs to play at your next bank holiday session, Jade and I will come down to support them for sure - another visit to Chch for us is long overdue Music

Just as long as there's not too many philistines who claimed Paul Maddox's music was shit, lol Laughing

you guys should deffinately come down to Chch again. Haven't seen you both in ages.. Maybe its time I come up to Welly though, haven't been back since i moved down here again.

Loved the photos haha!

Spending more money on production does not necessarily bring more people to an event and the amount we spend on production is very event specific... and in some cases can cripple the break even...I doubt some of you (eg the ones complaining on here) would pay any extra cash for a ticket if the production cost was higher Confused

It's great to see the subsonic negativity machine is as healthy as ever, I guess Paul has realised that putting your profits on biggie is not the brightest idea however props for giving it a go mate. From what I have heard the party had good numbers and good to see someone else giving it a go. Good to see you are excited and full of energy about it too Paul, keep it up.

"....not used to line the promoters own pockets for their own personal spending " - Who is this muppet? May i remind you if you are a promoter (regardless of whether it is part time or full time) we will always want to put money in the bank at some point. Rolling Eyes It is called income.

Careful with who you call a muppet miss jaclyn, otherwise we might have to nickname you miss piggy eh....

oink oink haha

IMO we party cos its fucking fun...and we love the music and dancing ... etc

this is called PASSION...most promoters i have met in the last 8 years promote because they DJ themselves...and want to bring their particular style of music they portray to the masses...

... AND NOT have an ultimate goal of making cash....a profit is a bonus IMO ...and should be used to make the next gigs better and better...
promoters used to spend thousands of dollars, and loads of time and energy on production back in '00 ..'01...'02 etc.....and as far as i'm aware ...large production budgets are just not spent anymore ...unless its a major event.

not props at all !! ...first time i have EVER seen a promoter publicly gloating about profit made from a gig....stupidity i reckon lol

congrats to Paul on the party tho...it worked...mainy cos of the different venue...and advertising that was done on Pulzar etc

James Lawson, Nick Sentience, Capt Tinrib, Ali Wilson, Ben Stevens, Matt Williams, Ilogik, Alien project, Asterix, Marco V, Sean Tyas, theres plenty, Ryan Tregurtha his new track cranks RTZ its called, went off at steve hill i dear say, Fran played it, tune of the year material man best shit ive heard in ages.

I would have prefered The Swedish Chef, Gonzo or Scooter even! Oh well.

You say: most promoters i have met in the last 8 years promote because they DJ themselves...and want to bring their particular style of music they portray to the masses... - it is also because some of them think of themselves as awseome(when they are not)....are quite narcissistic and egotistical and no one else will book them.

I think you will find that promoters who spent a lot of money back in the '00, '01, '02 whatever- on production were getting that money back on ticket sales at that time and the event warranted it. All I am saying here is ticket prices have had to be lowered (in some respects), costs have become higher to put on an event and no one wants to lose money - am I right?

It's not a nice feeling to lose money when you have spent not only your personal income or savings and spent hours and hours putting a party on for people to enjoy for it not to break even or not make some sort of profit to pay you for your time at least...however minimal or huge it may be?

I don't understand why you would have a 'large production budget' if you were not going to make that money back or break even? That is what budgets are for - if you bring in a huge name dj/producer and are looking at a 1000 pax capacity sell out event you would spend a lot more on production than if you were looking at a 400 capacity sell out event. It is the same for large scale events eg: outfoor events - it is all relative ..

P.S I said props to Paul for putting the party on - not for posting his profit on biggie - you may wish to re-read that sentence. It is awesome there is another player in the market. This is the most fun biggie has been in ages! Nice work Paul for being so controversial!

lol no worries hun.... look people stop being so pathetic - yes I admit I should have not shot my mouth off - I was too proud and excited that something I tried for the 1st time worked in my favour - and it would be nice to do it again...

Jared - shut up mate - you recieved some of that profit for sitting on ya arse all nite and doing nothing cause you got equipment that you got would not work for you.... not your fault, but be thankful that I was nice to help you out with some cashflow eh.. If I hadn't got all the support you would not be in pocket either...

Can't fault your taste there as I like most of those producers myself when I'm on a melodic tip. I agree that Dr Tre is on fire at the moment, too - making great tracks all across the hard dance spectrum from melodic to hard as fuck. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on Maddox Laughing
