I want to know what everyone thinks of sub9 now that it seems to be the stardard place where we are having all of our international DnB gigs.

I like Sub9 because of the shear size of the place, which means a bigger gig and more money for the promoters to bring over more big names. But I miss studio, I find it to be a lot more intimate. Studio nine to me is a lot darker and I feel that the low roof, dark walls, and the fact that the DJ is right there infrount of you just make it.

Sub9 lacks something that I cant quite put my finger on. One thing I dont like is the fact that it is not a closed off room, and the enterance leads straight onto the dance floor, and the whole venue still kind of feels like an old pub, and seems to big for us to fill it. (which could be a good thing)

I went to Ed Rush and Optical last year at Studio at it was sick, Packed out with no room to move, and in a funny that is how I liked it. I wish that they were playing there again, even though wherever they play is going to go off.

I am not trying to dis the organisers by saying this you guys do an arwsome job, this is just some feedback.

I totally agree. Since Doc Scott last year at Studio all the Internationals I have been to have been at Sub.

I like the place packed out as well. I guess DNB is on the rise if they are starting to fill a venue the size of Sub9.

we have been trying to rotate the use of both venues to keep it fresh. Subnine is good for the bigger names on weekend nights, but as we have a pretty hectic thursday night schedule this year we will be utilising studionine for those.

in fact the only gig scheduled for sub at the mo' is storm on 15 march

peace

So are Ed Rush & Optical playing in Studio not Sub as advertised?
[quote]
yep, i changed it a couple of weeks ago
[quote]
oh yeah it is going to sick
[quote]
yeah i think sub is good when its packed and cranking..just dont loose your mates...haha
but yeah studio is the old skool and sometimes im more comfortable there with a smaller more intimate crowd
[quote]
Studio 9 - dark, grimey and intimate as, when its ram jam inside and rider on the decks it goes the fuck off!

Sub 9 - Bailey 2001.... nuff sed really, you had to be there, aint nuthin gonna come close to that.... maybe storm Wink

I like Stud9 better myself. Just having it smaller and stuff. The A/C works slightly better in the Sub9 does it not?

Damn it was hot at Marky! Phew!
[quote]
Yeah true at least in sub9 you dont get the sweet dripping off the roof as bad as studio.
[quote]
awww thats like the best bit Smile hehe thats when u know its going off when theres condensation dripping off the ceiling eg. rider and mc moose, as i remember it grooverider was wiping condensation (not sweat) off his dubplates! Very Happy
[quote]
Yeah I have encountered a few sweaty walls as well....

Namely at Studio9. Indigo last Friday was sick as well.

Don't lean on walls...

[quote]
Yeah, I love it when I feel the sweat dripping off the roof. I just try and imagine it's the sweat of those hot chicks inevitably turning up to DnB gigs. *laughs*

Haha, mmmm, Indigo was quite hot eh. But nothing compared to Marky! Sweat was dripping off the roof above myself and Tricia up the front at Marky... heh heh heh. *cue non seedy laugh*

Seriously, Stud9. All the way!

With u on Sub feeling like an old pub....it's a bit of a crack up
[quote]
Why? It did used to be an old pub. What I meant by it was they should think about changing the carpet and the lay out.
[quote]
maybe rider and moose brought the condensation with them ... cos as i recall, it was fucking wet and drippy at the the ministry gig in chch last year.
[quote]
yeah as i also recall bailey bought moisture to a few girls panties during his tour as well Razz
[quote]
Sub9 = seedy old mans pub with tables ripped out + acoustics of a loony whacking a jam jar inside a mouldy cardboard box.
Studio9 = nice + snug + lovely sounding

Hold the big gigz somewhere else, I say!
[quote]
P.S. HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA! U r a funny bastard, Danjah!
[quote]
you wellington kats are real lucky, I hear that you got about 5 different D&B venues
[quote]
We do? Mainly it's all at Studio9/Sub9 which are adjoining venues. There's also the odd bit at Indigo, and some at Matterhorn, which is a tiny bar, really.

Go the S9s!
