So, here goes...I don't know if anyone can help me but...

Having recently moved home, I needed to add a wireless bridge in the middle of the house to repeat the signal from the router and ensure network access is consistent in the upstairs office. I shall call the router to the bridge connection A, and bridge to my PC connection B.

My backup storage drive is connected to the router downstairs and works as normal on connection A. It also shows up as a drive on network on connection B, but my desktop PC is unable to open it (error says 'the network path was not found').

So i can only connect, access and backup files if i connect on A but as I use a desktop from the office, it isn't possible.

I am sure there is something that needs to be done, that's moderately technical, on the bridge.

Any helpful steer on what i might need to change here?

Weeeird. Sounds like it's not passing something properly. No firewall turned on on the bridge or anything like that?

If all else fails consider a powerline adaptor to bridge the APs or give a direct connection, they have come down in price significantly of late.

Using power line to bridge the AP's is silly, since you can now now do the direct connection you go on to mention.

I do it at home because I also use a laptop in the same area. Theres not difference in wiring and theres probably no extra cost/ time.

All firewalls are off. I can't seem to find anyone else suffering a similar problem in Google. I have a couple of mates who will come round for poker in a couple of weeks and know their stuff on this so if they resolve the problem I'll post back.

Oh - is the DHCP server on the bridge still on?

Edit: to clarify, is the bridge set to an IP in the same range as the rest of the network, and the DHCP server turned off?
