The Stil Vodka NZ Drift Series hits Christchurch for the first time on Saturday August 25. Its the third round of the series and Carl Ruiterman is leading the points as we go into the event.

Gates for spectators open at 9am and cars will be on track just after 9.30am. The Top 16 battles begin after lunch so if its cold or wet in the morning, you can still head to Powerbuilt Tools Raceway at Ruapuna in the afternoon and witness the action. Rain or shine the Stil Vodka NZ Drift Series will go ahead.

Adding to the North versus South battle action we have the first ever appearance of FMX stunt riding at a drift event. If flying upside down 10 metres in the air while hanging onto a screaming bike is your idea of a good time, then this is one you shouldn't miss.

We’ll be bringing along the Stil Series Offical Radar Gun to check entry speeds for the first time at Christchurch. The Stil Promo Girls will be wandering the venue taking your entries into the Warp Factor competition. Whoever gets closest to guessing the fastest speed into the first corner will win some cool stuff from Stil Vodka on the day. The Warp Factor winner’s name will be announced at prizegiving and you’ll have to be there to collect your prize – R18 of course.

Any drivers who have not received an entry form via e-mail please check your spam filter or get in touch with me on mfleming@parkside.co.nz or call me urgently on 09 524 5854 as the pre-entries close next Friday (August 17).

To wind out the day, after the Top 16 eliminations are completed, we’ll be running the Team Drift Challenge as well. All entries on the day will be eligible to enter in groups of 3-5 to compete for the Stil Vodka Teams Challenge. Rules are in the Sup Regs which are included with the entry forms.

Finally, don’t forget all drivers and crews are invited to the Stil Vodka NZ Drift Series official after party. Just ask anybody who made the last couple and you’ll soon know its worth the effort. The NZPC TV crew will be on hand to cover the day’s activities then they’ll be straight into the editing suite to rough a programme together for the big screens later that evening at the Vic and Whale in Colombo St. Exclusive footage of the day’s drifting will go on screen soon after they arrive plus you'll get the chance to taste some of Stil's fine product as part of the celebrations.

General admission tickets to the Christchurch round of this year’s Stil Vodka NZ Drift Series on Saturday, August 25 are $20. You can buy them at the gates or shoot over to trademe and type in the key words “Stil Vodka” to find them online. Car parking is once again $5 and if you want to wander the pits during the day then its $5 per person.

One last thing, Stil Vodka, Racepro, Pit Stop, RPS, Fram Filters, Dobisport and Tein are supporting this series, so when you’re making your next purchase, think long and hard before going past these companies – they deserve your support.
