I noticed just now that there's a definite kick to the right whenever I come off the accelerator at anything higher than 4k RPM. Braking is fine, it only happens when I take my foot off the accelerator entirely. I feel the weight of the car move towards the front right, and it's only started in the last couple of days, which of course coincides with when I hit something on the motorway Neutral

So yeah - any idea what it could be? I'm probably going to have to take it to a mechanic, which continues on into my next thread...

Suspension...Tyre?

Steering Rack? but i doubt it.

What you hit? How fast?

I was going 100, not sure what I hit - the car in front of me managed to drive over it, but I wasn't paying enough attention and didn't have enough time to react.

I'll jack it up tonight and have a look to see if I can see anything amiss.

yeah man, its too hard to diagnose from just that.
definately jack it up and have a good look, take both front wheels off, get a lead light if you got one or a bright light and check all suspension components, upper and lower arms, make sure there are no cracks, and make sure nothing has moved, make sure the caster arms etc dont have a kink in it. Pretty much no matter what it is if you hit something at 100kmh it can bend or break metal, assume your front bumper is sweet as?

Cheers Blade.. I'll get onto that later. Might be a weekend job, and an excuse to finally buy a decent jack.

Yeah the front bumper looks fine eh, I initially thought whatever it was hit the bumper but it doesn't look like it did.

I have also noticed a steering problem in my Silvia. When approaching a left hand turn, I seem to turn left too early, and too sharply, then have to turn hard right again to correct it?

Anyone else had this problem with their Silvia?

Car

sounds like wheel alignment

oh, lolz update.

The pressure in the left rear was getting just a bit too low, fixed it and the car was fine, but the next day it was low again. One of the clipped-on wheel balancing weights on the rim was digging into the tyre and seemed to be causing a really slow leak. I've removed that weight and it seems sweet now. heh Smile So nothing much to worry about, thankfully...
