NSW have missed a trick here though I reckon. Hayne to fullback, Gidley to 5/8, Lyon to centre, Tahu on the wing is a much stronger, more creative backline imo. Lyon is pretty ineffectual in the halves.

Jamie Lyon is a centre and will be playing out of position, so is Hayne (though he played well on the wing last year), where is Todd Carney, and why the fuck is Brett Kimmorley even in the side?

Doesn't look like they've picked this on form or logic so I hope they have some tricks up their sleeve - the QLD side will be all-star again.

Kimmorley is there because he had a massive game last start when we pounded Queensland at home. He has also been easily the best NSW halfback in the NRL this year and in 2009. I have no idea why people hate him so much, but whatever it is it stops haters from noticing that he is a really good player and a flat out shoe in for NSW half atm. Tate is not there because he is nowhere near the same player he was 4 years ago. Tate does have great history but Tonga is playing better than him right now so thats swung it. I imagine if Tonga gets monstered or injured Tate will be back in for the 2nd game

Oh and the maroon squad is a fucking joke, wtf are you Queensland fagits doing picking Folau? doesnt he play Aussie Rules or rugby or something? Next wednesday at ANZ Stadium in Sydney is the first game. The second one is 3 weeks after that at Suncorp and the final is 3 weeks after that at ANZ again.

For NSW, I'd bite the bullet and start Idris. When Parra played the Dogs a few weeks ago Tahu couldn't handle him, and Tahu is a pretty decent defender.

I'd mark up Idris against Inglis, cos we all know that salary cheatin Storm boy goes walkabout in defense when the going gets tough. Same as Folau, very average on D. Target them and the Blues might be on their way to a win in Game 1.

But of course that won't happen because Bellamy is the coach. Des Hasler should be coaching this team, IMO. *cue 'Kick In The Door' - Biggie*

The main problem for the Blues is 1,6 and 7. Has been for 4 years now...

LOL. Got shafted? There were some crap calls, but that went both ways. They were simply outclassed. Only in the last few minutes when the game was pretty much finished did NSW look dangerous.

PS. Had to laugh at Jarred Hayne and his hideous purple/pink boots prancing down the sideline and throwing a ball to nobody.

They weren't "outclassed".. it was 28-24 and they dominated the first 10-15 mins.. the difference was Thurston, how fucken good is that guy!

They got off to a good start and got a couple of late tries that made the scoreline look better for them. For the majority of the game they were simply outclassed. Queensland constantly looked dangerous. NSW did hardly anything.

Queensland have the players to match their passion...NSW have neither. Simple as that.

Queenslannd only got away because of that ridiculous Benefit of the Doubt call when there were clearly two tacklers, and a try off a piggy back down field when Petro dropped it cold and the referee gave a penalty. Take away that and the two late NSW tries and you have a very close game.

Although as grinder said the major difference between the wto sides was Thurston, he was insaely good. Whereas the NSW halves were poor, need to move Lyon intot he centres and move Gidley to 6.

And if you want to nitpick, I am pretty sure two of the NSW ties came from knock ons.

Second one was blatantly wrong though. Poor ball control by Petro and an even poorer call by the referee. The onus is always on the ball carrier to hang onto it in those situations, and the CORRECT call should have been a lost ball.

Well that was the most uninspiring Origin series in living history. NSW better pick its fuckin game up. You can start by sorting out the fuckin selectors.

The selectors may have made mistakes as they are bound to do, but Im not sure blaing them is the answer. Try casting your eye across both teams as objectively as possible deciding who is the best player in each position. (I mean....cant saY ive done this myself, but i can imagine the result since Qland is chock full of guys who are the best in the word)

Just watched the last 20 minutes, and at least for 2 series in a row we won the fights.

I have one more thing to add.

Everywhere I am hearing that (mostly from NSW supporters but not entirely) that this years SOO series has been one of the worst for ages. And while Qland supporters are quick to say "well its just because you are losing" let me assure you it isnt. There are 2 main reasons why in my view SOO is facing probably its biggest challenge ever.

1. The imbalance of superstars on one side. Not much needs to be said or can be domne really. Until NSW develop some guys that exceed the superstar status of the likeof Smith, Petro, Ingliss,. Slater etc etc etc (not likely) OR Qslands get injured/move to rugby/ w/e. The forseeable future (say...5-6 years) looks like a continuation of mismatches that will barely be worth tuning into. Its the eqivalance of watching a 1990's WWF match between "The Ultimate Warrior" and ......"Bob Smith". You know whose gonna win, but you vaguely watch anyway just to check out the severity of the beat down. This is a sad spot for SOO to be in

2. DEEP BREATH.....The lack of grrrrrr .....passion and conviction from NSW. They are unlovable right now. They preen and pounce about and get caught up in scandals involving women and generally just dont seem to care that much.

Ive always maitained that "Qlnd Pride" is a crock of shit and I still hold that view. But I think what might have happened is its been banged about so much...... that the NSW players now believe it and have dropped their own pride in their jersey, to the point it IS now true. More power to Qland for their ridiculous pride campaign working by sneaking in the back door I suppose

NSW needs someone to restore that pride. And I dont think Bellamy is the guy to do it. I bagged the appointment of Meninga but I was wrong b/c I didnt realise that at this level coaching acumen isnt as important as getting players up on the day. Mal is the perfect figure to do that with the mana he holds, and few guys in the back room sorting the techical stuff for him. NSW needs a similair hero-coach-leader. But im not sure who that is. NSW heros seem to be good at covering themselves in non-glory (Fittler, Johns)

oh, there's a shit load more than two groups. Those are only two groups from that region of NSW. There are dozens of distinct ethnic groups.

Each of these groups is then divided again in a manner something like maori are divided by iwi and hapu. So at an upper level the divisions are really as distinct as say an englishmen is from a russian. Completely distinct peoples that happen to inhabit the same continent, but who have their own language, history and cultural traditions.
