starters soundcard

I am just getting into production and am on the hunt for a good, cheap soundcard to get me started.

Has anyone used something which matches my criteria? or possibly have something for sale? I am looking to spend no more than $500.

I bought a miditech USB one that they sell at music planet on queen St. About $220 with phantom power switch for my condenser mic! Had no probs runnin on a mac def more of a starter price than 5 spot!

I have the Novation NIO 2/4 it's good value (about $450)
