This is a thread dedicated to images of current, former, or future sports stadiums around the world. If like me you love the way stadiums look then contribute your favourites, bizarre looking ones, down right impressive ones, or even epic fails.

I'll start with the Camp Nou (FC Barcelona) redevelopment, the existing stadium while huge and impressive on the inside isn't particularly great looking from the outside. The redevelopment aims to rectify this and increase capacity to 106,000 this is what it will look like:

Next the almost complete Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena:

From the WTF files, Boca Junior's La Bombonera:

Landsdown Road, Ireland, historic buildings meant it had to be lopsided:

Lastly, the Sapporo Dome in Japan:

Morrocco's National Stadium:

Oita Stadium, Japan:

Soccer City, Joberg (WC Final location):

From the size matters category, Beaver Stadium, Penn State University:

Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena = awesome! Would love to see it opening and closing!

Penn State = more capacity than the fucking MCG! And it's just for college football?!?! That's mental

Some of the colleges get 50,000+ for spring games, which are... practices

Virtual, but shows how it is done

I'll be attending Argentina v Korea and Ghana v Germany matches here

can't wait!

some of my picks:

Wembley Stadium, London, England (UEFA Champions League Final 2011 venue)

Old Trafford, Manchester, England (Home of Manchester United)

Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, Wales (one of the very few stadiums in the world to have a open/closed roof top)

The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy (Home of Milan)

Just to rub it in to Jono... Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid, Spain (UEFA Champions League Final 2010 venue)

Some of those look awesome!

I was looking at some of the proposed stadiums for Quatar's 2022 (?) World Cup pitched and they looked awesome. Can't remember where I saw the pics though.

I love how Minty felt obliged to explain the significance of Wembley Stadium as a venue. Laughing

...And include Old Trafford which is an ugly mish mash of a stadium where they have tried to fit the four different stands together over the years.

The same is true of Anfield in Liverpool as well, to be honest there aren't that many stadiums in England which are impressive from the outside, the Emirites and Wembley are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

Just to prove I'm not being completely partisan about it, I will concede that at present the Bernabeu is a far better looking stadium than the Nou Camp - hence why I only included the renovated version.

Emirites Stadium, London:

Craven Cottage, London, home of Fulham FC. On the banks of the Thames in Hammersmith, it doesn't look like anything special and has >20k capacity, however this is a very cool stadium purely because it's a throw back to the early 20th century stadiums. Inside it looks like something from pre WWII - the only thing it's missing are terraces, it also has a cottage, yes a cottage in one corner, hence the name:

St James' Park, Newcastle - this one cracks me up due to the massive discrepancies in the size of the stands:

Estádio do Maracanã, Rio de Janero, to this day it's hold the record for the most spectators in a stadium with 200,000 in the 1950 World Cup, these days it's fully seated and safety is a concern so the capacity is around 82,000.

Proposed Auckland Waterfront Stadium, fuck you Eden Park:

Last two for now:

Melbourne's Rectangular Stadium looks very cool:

And the Allianz Arena in Munich:

Called AAMI in Melbourne, looked like a very cool venue

Dallas Cowboys Stadium - Home of Superbowl XXV (next year) which the Cowboys will win!

With worlds largest HD panel

Reason why every one of these stadiums fails? No Shankly or Paisley gates ^_^

Design for new one looks nice but fuck it; we should do the Arsenal thing of getting major success before selling off our player assets to sponsor the new ground rather than doing so without Razz

Speaking of stadiums (stadia??), what is the deal with Wembley? Why is its surface so shit that it is mentioned as a factor against England getting the 2018 WC??

*edit: Ignore, likely explanations found Smile
