St John's Wort

Add this to grapefruit juice and antibiotics on the list of things which impair the performance of contraceptive pills. Let's be careful out there people.

Grapefruit juice is freaky stuff , messes with the metabolism of heaps of drugs!

but is it just me or is this not really a newsflash!

I know it was in the paper a coupla days ago and all but the last few times i have been to get a prescription for the pill at Family Planning they have asked whether or not i have been filled in on the deal with St Johns Wort. I was told about it by family planning about a year or so ago.

Is this not the case with other ppl as well, haven't they published this article a little late.

I also asked about the Grapefruit thing and they said you would have to eat or drink copious amounts of grapefruit for it to have an effect! That it was a silly idea to put it on the prescriptions!!!!!!
