Come along to the premiere for Speed of Sound, it'll be more fun that travelling at 343 metres per second!

feat. Jetpilot and new artist on the scene: Boy Wonder. Along with Andy B, Perspexx, and Rich'd'Rich blasting sonic deliciousness at the sound barrier. They'll be multiple aerial performers, a separate chill zone with visuals, sound-responsive fire art, dynamic visuals by Kellective, and drink specials on the night.

Speed of Sound is a monthly DJ night held in Wellington, New Zealand. We specialise in house, breaks, prog, psy and various other bits and pieces. Basically, we want to fill the dearth of music in Wellington for those that want to hear something different from the prevalence of hard house, DnB, and dubstep.

Also, I just returned from Africa, so I'll probably bust out some tribal house ;-P

To be fair, we have the Stereotype boys pushing regular house and techno nights at Sandwiches, and Dirty Needlez putting on a lot of big electro house events, too. So I wouldn't say there's a 'dearth' of this stuff in Welly.

That said, awesome to see some different grooves in the main room of Phoenix Smile

Good point! For a while there (last year I think) I was having real trouble finding stuff that matched my tastes, but thanks for the word about those gigs... I'll be sure to check them out. Smile

Progressive is something that I've found hard to find too, and "electro" seems to have started being used for all sorts, including harder MSTRKRFT/Justice/Bloody Beetroots etc sounds and cleaner stuff like DJ Dan/Miles Dyson. Even some of deadmau5's stuff seems to fall in there too!
