personally i dnt like godzillas dnt get me wrong they are a nice car spec wise but id rather go for sumthing like a toyota supra or a rx mazda more class .but thats a personal oppinion

Porche's and Ferraris are production cars. As are many BMW, Mercedes and Audi models, which are all capable of 250kmh speeds. Limited to 250 that is, due to a 'gentlemens agreement' with the German government. Pobably throw Jaguar into that mix, and also things like the HSV GTS 300 (266kmh actually), which are all capable of speeds over 250kmh.

Fair comment. Maybe some people just like the Japanese styling - like myself, and many others I know. It's probably a lot cheaper than your average porsche or ferrari. Besides, it's good to see that the japanese technology can be made to similar calibre to the European cars, which have typically dominated. I think that's worth encouraging.

The GTRs are all limited to 180kmh by Japanese law as well. Not hard to get that removed though.

As we all know, top speed isn't everything. Sure the GTS's can do it, and other cars of course, but the Skyline GTR has heaps else going for it.

Anyway, I was just justifying my statement at the top that a Skyline GTR could do 250. Cos they can!

I think the top speed of the R34 GTR with the 6 speed box is around 280km. I have done 250 down the back of a race track in my GTS, so they can get there.... noisy thou.. all than wind.

Did you guys know, that if you went past a speed camera at 250km/hr i wouldnt be able to pick you up,i think. Because i drove past a couple of 50km/hr ones at around 140-170km/hr and never got a ticket. They flashed and had film, maybe im just really lucky.

use a bike instead of a car and you can be doing 260kph or a preferable 160mph in no time. If you new the shutter speed of the camera the distance of viewable road in the camera shot then you could work out a speed at which the camera would "miss" you when taking the photo. If you could do the speed of light then it would definately miss you as you would not be visible when travelling faster than light. On a bike we don`t need to worry about facing cameras only trailling cameras as we have no front numberplate.......handy!

Im from Italy 65 million population and overthere the speed limit is 130kph. People drive over 200kph and the cops rarely stop them. We have less fatal crashes than the all NZ in one year.
Probably most of you don't know that the faster u go the more chances you have not to crash and die like a fool. What I mean is in the motorway the speed limit overhere is 100 and driving at 100 especially with an automatic car is very boring.. very hard to keep your eyes always on the road because you r going so slow that you get bored very quickly.. basically I think that NZ should put 130kph at least in the motorway..
Cops r too strict.. they stop you if you are going over 60kph on a straight road.. where not even a blind man could kill himself.. I think that they r just there to catch u and get money out of you.. and plus what's to do in NZ for them anyway if not get money through speed cameras

Insane...Our motorways down here being Wellington aren't geared up for that sort of speed. You drive up SH 1 from Paramata thru to Levin and it's all one lane each with no barrer in the middle...there are already too many people killed because of the crazy speeds they do!

I think perhaps that people that have attention disorders and cannot concentrate while driving not be allowed to drive. Imagine if people tried to drive 200km/h on some of the roads we have in NZ, I don't think that would help too much. Maybe 130km/h would be a fairly safe speed on a long straight double laned road, but seriously, how many highways/roads do we have that would fit that description?

I was in italy a few years ago and the drivers over there are absolutely psychotic! A zebra crossing is treated like a few white lines on the road with some obstacles called "pedestrians" who sometimes like to cross them...
Plus their motorways are far better than ours, big sweeping multi-lane beasts that you can go fast on without really worrying. Our roads just aren't up to that standard.

I understand where u all coming from.. but Im not sayin that they should put the speed limit up to 200 what Im saying that some of those corners from Wellington to Auckland and viceversa you can almost take them at 140 - 160.
The problem that I missed out (and don't get me wrong but this is what I think) is that Why do u think there so many crashes?? I think that the main reason is all to do with people who do not know the limit of their vehichel so they speed thinkin that the car can handle the road but it doesn't. So I think that by increasin the speed to 130-140kph we will be able to understand the limit of our cars in a way to reduce all those accidents..

Well my dad got a speedin ticket yeasterday in Key st.. he was doing 66.2kph and there were noone around at that time.. the cop wrote down the wrong speed on the fine.. here it comes.. (exceded speed by 166) that's mean he was drivin at 216kph..

Insane if there is any ticket error you can get off. same thing happened top a friend he argued that it was not possible to do the alleged speed and the ticket was dropped. You will need to fight it as 166kph over the limit = banned driver. The ticket must be issued correctly otherwise it is invalid. Fight this one. I was ticketed for leaving the motorway at constellation and immediately rejoinning via the on ramp cutting out all the traffic quing on the motorway( i was on a bike) the cop said he didnt like what i`d done. I went to court arguing that what the cop liked or disliked was irrelevant as there was no signage preventing me from performing the manouvre the manouvre was legal."what offence did i commit?" i asked. They withdrew the charges. Didnt use a lawyer either. just be polite and stand your ground.

I went to the cops today.. and they told me to write a letter of complaint to the Wellington police and so I did..
I stated that I would like to knw weather my dad was driving at 216? or 51.66? or 71 or 66.66?? now we just have to wait the answer. The funny thing is that my dad's car doesn't even arrive on 200kph and if he was doing that speed he would have gotten arrested..
So basically I wrote the letter for him coz he dsnt really speak a very good "ENGLAND!!" u c we r italian here..
I've got this strng feelin that he will have to pay in the end for going 16.6 over the limit but at least is not 71kph..
