I am checking this forum less and less.....someone really needs to start culling all the spam

I sent a message to a couple of the prolific recent spammers yesterday and said all outbound links in their posts would be removed in future and that contribution was how boards stay afloat - not UK-style promo companies.

Haven't had any repies yet.

MODS: can we just remove a pile of them?

I will hold my hands up and admit to using the board primarily in a promotional sense - however I do try and offer something of value to the readers of the board, rather than just say "here's a link to buy something".

So for example I'll provide links to content like podcasts, DJ mixes and videos, or competitions where board members can (and have in the past) win things from CDs to all-expenses-paid trips to remix-based comps with a promise of release for the winner.

I always revisit posts to see if anyone has replied and do engage in conversations where constructive and appropriate.

I hope this differentiates my activity on the board from others who solely post 'buy now' links never to be seen again.

I think that's a valid point and if the forum is to maintain it's integrity then it's important that people don't just post and piss off.

No, theres no quota. It's not just a magic number that will automatically entitle you to post your mixes. It may be an internet forum but it's not that far removed from real life.

How would you feel if a complete stranger wandered up to you and said "Heres an awesome mix I made listen to it right now!"? What if it was somebody you had had a conversation with? What if was someone you had regular conversations with?

Point is, if you want to be a part of this community then be a part of it. But don't expect support from the people in this forum if all you do is come in here to plug something.
