Getting close, and I´m starting to get pretty excited! I reckon I´ll be in the 3 first rooms the whole time. Really want to catch Fat Boy Slim, Steve Lawler, Groove Amada, Dave Guetta, Danny Tenaglia, Sasaha and Deep Dish.

I´ve only got tickets to the above party so far .... but, might go to one of the other opening parties on the Friday or Saturday.

Ibiza gets really busy later in the year, especially at the closing parties ... but I am sure this will go off!!!

I was reading on an Ibiza forum that some clubs aren´t too happy about people bringing cameras in ... might need to buy a disposable I guess

OK, went to the opening party at Pacha last night after warming up at Bora Bora, a bar/warm up venue near my hotel.

Bora Bora, was going off by about 6pm! Just madness, bar packed out, sunny blue skies, funky house galore with a few choice classics mixed in, hands in the air, crowd adulation, incoming planes flying overhead every 30 minutes to the cheering and clapping of the everyone. Bora Bora, so far is my pick for Ibiza. Closes up at 2am every day, when people usually go to actual events. Bouncers there are fucken huge and I saw them escorting a few people out of the bar for blatant drug use.

Pacha Opening Party 2008 with Sander Kleinenberg, Sebastian Ingrosso & Steve Angello

Headed into Pacha at around 1am. $70NZD to get in. Amazing club with and awesome set up. Very tight sound system. 4 different rooms, spread over two levels. Live performances by costumed dancers. Lighting, but no laser system. Bloody expensive: 330ml beer - $24NZD, water - $16NZD. I stuck to drinking tap water, which didn´t really seem to be the done thing by anyone else.

Sander Kleinenberg, who I hadn´t heard of, started with some prog house, which I really thought was so so. Headed to another room playing house & techno and ended up hanging out there for most of the night. Steve Angello dropped a few house classics, like you´d hear on the earlier MOS albums.

The crowd atmosphere didn´t pick up until about 4am, which really surprised me. I thought everyone would be right into it from the word go, but they al took a while to warm up. Event closed at 7am.

Got given a free pass to the Priveledge Opening party tonight with Mauro Picotto, John Acquaviva, Audiofly & Cesar del Rio.

So, I guess ´ll head into that tonight, get a few hours sleep Sunday morning and then finish of my weekend at the Space opening party.

Bora Bora: 10/10
Pacha: 7/10

Ok, just got back.

Hands down, Space is probably the biggest and best club I have ever been to: 6 rooms over one level, lasers, lighting, very tight sound system, 5 bars, gift shop with shirts, sunnies, lollies etc. It´s major downfall though, is they obviously don´t care about how many people they jamn in there and it was REALLY oversold. The event started at 12pm, and I decided to rock up round 5.30pm as I didn´t want to see anyone before Fatboy Slim at 7.45pm, and I wanted to try last the distance till the next day. When I arrived the ques were MASSIVE and I ended up standing in line for close to 2 hours. Over this tim it hardly moved at all, as they weren´t letting people in and were telling everyone to come back in 3 hours. Actually, they were letting people in who had pre bought tickets, but if you had net bought tickets, you had to wait. It really sucked arse!!!

Anyway, finially got in at about 8pm really releaved as I thought they wouldn´t let us in. Lesson learnt: If you´re going to Space in Ibiza turn up 1-2 hours after the event starts or expect to que for hours.

They say Space´s capacity is 10,000, but I´d gustimate there would of been maybe 50% more than that in there. In the main rooms where Sasha, Lawler, Fatboy Slim, Guetta, Groove Amada played, you couldn´t really dance more than doing a tiny shuffle and waving your hands round. It wasn´t ideal at all.

And, super expensive:

Water - $16NZD
Beer - $20NZD

I didn´t drink anything, apart from an unopened chocolate milk I found whilst there.

Fatboyslim played a set to a pretty large crowd and seemed to be well received. He closed with the original version of the Love is in the Air from the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. How random??? Maybe he´s in love with Steve Lawyer who followed him!

Didn´t like Steves set, but only heard the first 15 minutes. Quite a bit darker and progressive.

Groove Amada were pretty cool, and it was kinda like a concert. They played a mix of house and some more laid back and chilled feeling beats. The blonde guy in the group had a really good stage presence and the audience loved him. I didn´t dance much, just stood, chilled and watched.

Sasha had some awesome lasers with their set, but they played what sounded like speeded up kinda dark progressive house with weird sounds rolling in the background, a little like psy trance. I heard them in Japan with John Digweed ... didn´t like them then, and that hasn´t changed. Lasers were cool though - I think they had five which were mounted in a star formation, and multi coloured. Very cool to watch!

Dave Guetta ... man, this guy just fucken goes off!!! Watched him for about 90 minutes, and he was awesome, and my highlight for the night. Funky, funky house.Played a few more well known hits and played a lot of stuff I hadn´t heard -(which isn´t really saying much!). Yeah, he really got the place grooving.

The atmosphere was pretty good, and about what you´d expect from a superclub in Ibiza I guess. Lots of wasted Europeans and a few Brits ... but not me The ammount of people was real pain in the arse as it was hard to move around, and every room was pretty chokka full. There were that many people that you really could not find a space where you could cut loose and have a goood boogie. People were always squeezing past you, but no agro, so all good I guess.

If you want to experience a real super club in action, and you can deal with the packed-in-like-sardines vibe, Space is a place you sould definitely get to one day.

If you prefer more small, personal places, you seriously can NOT beat Bora Bora Bar. I started off there today at 5pm and it was going OFF right from the start. That place has such a super vibe, amazing music and a fantastic up-for-it crowd, you honestly can´t beat it!!!
