Can anyone recommend me a software (free) that would convert my divx, avi etc movies that I have on my laptop to a DVD disk, so I can watch it on the DVD player?

Cheers

Advanced X Video Converter

However, quicker to buy a DivX DVD player for $100

The advanced X video Converter just converts them from format to format, but does not burn them onto DVDs, from what I can see anyway... Confused

Hrm, true.

I use Nero but it's not free.

However you could always download then hunt a serial...

Ya Nero Vison, is the only one I've ever used to do that. Be warned it takes FOREVER.

There a reason you can't buy an S-Video > RCA cable and just plug laptop into TV?

Laptop doesn't have an S-Video out kris.

Stink. Any way of maybe putting movies onto DVD disks and then watching them on the DVD player that plays dvix and avi? I have one of those DVD players that play all files under the sun.

Umm if your DVD player plays AVI / DIVX then you just burn the files to disk.

I don't have any burning software either. lol

For some reason my CD/DVD drive on laptop doesn't read half of the disks I put in too...

There is no shareware version of Nero, time limited trial versions only.

Although it sounds like your drive is fucked anyway. The state of the rest of your laptop tallys with that :>

Yeah, I've got myself a trial version, which looks exactly what I want... But! Mother fucking error msg comes up: "Please insert a writable DVD", when I already have a writable DVD in it... Neutral

Ok, seems like a lot of people have encountered similar problem as me with this particular DVD hardware.

I have a Toshiba SD-R6372 writer. The firmware I have is RPC1 1032. I need to install RPC1 1732 according to the internets people. But, RPC1 firmware is not available from http://www.storage.toshiba.eu/index.php?id=112&pid=142&sid=12 for some reason.

So I found another source http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba/index.php?path=SD-R6372/. Now this is where shit gets complicated for me...

These are the instructions:

1. Make Bootable Floppy Disk
2. Extract all files of the ZIP file onto Boot Disk
3. Reboot PC with Boot Disk inserted.
4. Type
update.bat <return>
F/W will now be updated (you may be prompted to insert a disk, any CD will do)
5. Wait for Flashing to finish.
6. Reboot PC

WFT, I don't even have a Floppy Disk!

Confused

Any idea peeps?

Can I put this onto a USB drive instead of Floppy Disk maybe?

Anyone?
