Not all geeks can afford the continuous hardware upgrade cycle and have to make to with whatever crap can be scammed.

What are you stuck with?

Home:
Duron 750, 256mb (got spare sticks for the other slot but the slot is bung), crappy onboard gfx and sound, crappy dial-up and nothing useful like lan or usb2 onboard, so my (3) pci slots are all full. No AGP slot either. At least I got 320gb of HDD in there and a shiny new CDRW.

Laptop (work):
Cpq Armada E500, PIII-600, 128mb and 11gb (dying) HDD, dead battery. At least it's reasonably snappy with Win2K Pro. New Toshiba Centrino in July tho, at which point this will either get ignored, or possibly turned into a *nix desktop machine of some description.

work: a p3 500 160meg ram 30gig w2k but at least its got speakers and a nice (but smallish) philips monitor.

my home desktop is a minitix 1ghz with firewire dvd writer & usb2 2nd hdd (quite handy to be able to turn things off that you dont need)

theres an upgrade planned so i can return the mini itx to its intended purpose as a set top box or car entertainment system but still trying to work out what and when to spend the $$$

At work I have a P4 2.0GHz with 768MB RAM. Machine spec is fine, but it's so loaded with Netware that it takes 10 minutes to boot and get the programs I need loaded. After that it's fine.

At home I have the Acer Aspire laptop/desknote. P4 2.66 with 768 again, 17 inch screen. It's a bit of a beast really, see LINK
