I notice people are starting to say in public they play prog.... maybe the shame has been forgotten.
[quote]
Heh, perhaps :>

Tis huge here in Aus, I wonder if NZ will follow the cue...
[quote]
hah... say prog out my way and people think your talking about trance...

mind you, according to the same people, tiesto plays house Laughing

either way, i've been loving Hybrids Jan 2009 frisky radio set... good shit aye! Wink
[quote]
Probably because most of the trance thats come out over the last few years has been progressive trance Wink

Hybrid = consistently FTMFW Music

went to Sandwiches last Saturday, couldn't believe what they were playing in the main room...

PROG.

Not soft party prog like sander k might play either, but full on deep stuff. CRAZY. It was two dj's who were wearing ushanka's?

Yeah? I'm going to see them this Friday night along with Henry Saiz, not to sure what to expect...

Warming the night up with Infusion first too. Smile

Yeah I'm a bit out of the loop but from what I can tell those in the know are more about Saiz than Hybrid.

Yeah Saiz = Legend! Music

Will be interesting to see what Hybrid do tbh, I've been a massive fan of theirs for years (huge prog breaks fanbwoy right hurr) but they have been playing 4/4 for a few years now but then I saw the gig billed as prog breaks again... weird! Confused

Infusion have sadly lost their way in a massive massive way. Unless they revert to their prog breaks of old for the sake of Hybrid they will likely be rubbish.

Heh, actually you might enjoy them anyway Rips. I'm sipping my hatorade because they left prog breaks for electro house Laughing

Infusion is playing seperatly at Roxanne Parlour of course.

I know they have gone pretty pop with their latest album but we will see how it pans out on the night, they will be playing some classics as well.

I've herd Hybrid can be epic live but from what I can tell they are not playing a 'live' set so yeah who knows...

Saiz is playing live though.

For those interested (RobW) here are the set times...

quote:
Set times:

Restaurant:

10.00pm - 12.00am Rollin Connection
12.00am - 3.00am HYBRID
3.00am - 5.00am HENRY SAIZ LIVE
5.00am - 6.30am Phil K

Open air rooftop:

12.00am - 1.00am Ferris
1.00am - 2.30am Keltec
2.30am - 4.00am Mangan
4.00am - 5.30am Danny Bonnici
5.30am - 7.00am Gavin Keitel
7.00am - 10.00am Jamie Stevens v HYBRID v Phil K

The rooftop is old skool breaks until 5:30am hence the gig is prog / breaks.

That last set could be pretty epic but I doubt I'll be around for it.
[quote]
Fuck me that last set WILL be epic Shocked

Yeah, new Infusion album is poppy as and the singles I've had sent to me have been pretty bad eh. Not my cup of tea at all Im afraid Embarassed

Their live sets are ridiculous, full band set up, awesome! Their DJ sets (however many of them actually come over) drift down tech & prog realms in 4/4.

Set times actually look ok, and Infusion will be getting back to their prog breaks bidness at that gig by the looks of things (Jamie Stevens) Wink

It's just a different angle for them, they are still doing the 3 man ballsy dance stuff, but this is a full live band combined with the electronic elements.

And to be fair, as much as I was like 'errrr, WTF?' when I first listened to the new album, it's grown on me quickly with each listen...it's poppy, for sure, but it's good music still...some of the lyrics are really poetic and flow well, and there is great underlying elec stuff which they're said to amp up when playing it live.

Not what we know and love from them, but I reckon it'll be pretty choice still.

Easier said than done given that I'm a critic Razz

Agree to disagree Insanity, I've had a few of their tracks filter through my inbox and the studio, and all of them have been cringeworthy imo.

was it the mid-winter vodka party?? if so, it was wade and stu. it was deace stomping round to teh prog and deep house, and biggup stu for dropping nectars concussive! brought me right back to the early days and the first monkey bizz parties. Cool

as for infusion, i think its wicked that they are branching out. last year they took on a drummer, this year bass and horns.. they have always played live music, just taking it to the next level really, innit. would love to hear some of their stuff done with a live band!

will be very interested to hear how melbs fri night gig went. Music
