It's starting to slip. Long gone are the days that I'm willing to do this shit myself.

I've got a 91 MR2 with some sort of performance clutch (will have to find out what it is, it's listed in a very very old issue of performance car) in it, and I'm looking at keeping that way.

How much do you reckon parts and labour will cost for that car?

from memory its a prick of a clutch to change, because of the mid mounted engine..

yeah it's gonna be expensive I guess. Still, better than doing it myself, fuck that shit.

If you're going to do the clutch, it can be done with the engine in, but its a pain in the ass.
You're better at getting someone to drop the engine and give it a birthday.
Replace the cam belt, water pump, cam belt tensioner, cam seals, crank seal, rear main seal.
You'll be looking at probably near $500 if you go for an OEM clutch, closer to a grand if you go for after market like Exedy or Cusco. Inc the seals, pump etc.

Its a real bastard though. I did that on my other SW, with the use of a workshop, and it was a 3 day job!

ugh... :\

If I had a workshop I'd be up for it now, got a list of shit I want to do with the car, and 3 weeks off... Buuut I'm gonna get a quote next working day and get it sorted...

Love my car Smile

Although I suppose no one really gives a shit, for sake of closure I'll finish the story.

I took my car on the Monday before last and left it there and caught the bus home. Because I said I was in no rush I didn't get the car back until yesterday morning (so a week and a half). Got a new heavy duty clutch can't remember what it is will post it later, a cambelt and a wof.

No idea how much it's going to cost yet because he hadn't finished invoicing it so the bill will come in the post.

I stalled it several times because the clutch is so grabby, but I think I've sort of gotten used to it, although I've also crunched the gears a few times. It's lovely!!

That plus before I took it in I finally cleaned the fuck out of it and it's back to it's former head-turning shiny red lustre, it's so nice Very Happy

So um, the final bill was $1385. For that I got the clutch kit, cambelt, a couple of other belts, WOF, a few misc things fixed.
