So lately i have seen a couple of crappy low budget australian commercials come through work which Jerry Sienfeld in them.

They're not even really trying to be funny, he only has a couple of lines, and it's not even for a overly well known or successful company?

Is he officially a "has been" now? Doesn't he do stand up comedy anymore?

Dont think I want to see these ads Sad

Seinfeld a has been? I DON'T THINK SO LARRY!
[quote]
haha GB.. that's actually kind of awkward.

Surely he still gets royalties and couldn't be that out of cash? Sienfeld is still on every day and night here in australia.

It's "Seinfeld" Razz And no way he's out of cash.. Him doing ads is pretty uncharacteristic though Confused

yeah, he's on ad here in aussie... I don't think it's uncharacteristic... he'll probably just bored.

The guys earns shitloads of money every time a channel somewhere in the world re-runs Seinfeld, which is like all the time. Pretty sure he doesn't have to do anything for the cash for the rest of his life. Like someone else said, he's probably just bored....

Personal wealth

According to Forbes magazine, Jerry Seinfeld's annual earning from Seinfeld in 1998 was $267 million, making him the highest-earning celebrity that year.[38] Seinfeld still generates more revenue than most current shows, through syndication and DVD sales.[citation needed] He reportedly turned down $5 million per episode, for 22 episodes, to continue the show for a tenth season.[39] He earned $100 million from syndication deals and stand-up appearances in 2005 and $60 million in 2006.[40][41] He also earned $10 million for appearing with Bill Gates in Microsoft's 2008 ads for Windows.[42] Between June 2008 and June 2009, Seinfeld earned $85 million, making him the highest-paid comedian during that 12-month period.[43]

not uncommon for comedians to never stop working, they get a high from their craft and need that fix allegedly - refer most creative types

If you saw these ads i think it'd throw out the "bored" comments. Filming an ad where you're standing on a cheap fake stage with a microphone, saying a sentence which consists of maybe 10 words, that aren't meant to be funny isn't exactly a cure for boredom.

Seinfield.

Maybe doing things like that amuses him.

I reckon Qt has nailed it

Basically Jerry does whatever he wants because fuck you.

i'm tempted to get a copy of this ad and post it up just so you can all see how low budget, boring and pointless it is.

Does it cut to him and he's all like "so what's the deal with <product name>" and then cut to the rest of the commercial?
[quote]
no he says "why choose silver when you can have gold, why choose _____ when you can have ____" (can't remember the last bit) and he's standing holding a microphone pretending to be talking to a crowd i guess.

and that's it, he's on for about 5 seconds and he doesn't get mentioned or referenced at all through out the rest of the tvc.

??

[quote]
yes that second one is the one i saw - i saw a 15 second cut down of it though, so it only had part of what he says there.

Horrible ads.
[quote]
Odd. Not sure what hes up to but maybe menial work keeps him grounded. Who knows? I just like making assumptions.....
[quote]
Isn't that the whole point of Seinfeld though... err, being pointless?

Perfectly executed. Smile
[quote]
Fuck that really is a horrible ad

The music is my favorite bit.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN PAY FOR THE RIGHTS TO THE MUSIC? WE PAID FOR FUCKING SEINFELD DIDN"T WE?
[quote]
haha yeah obvious copy track Razz

the idiot owner of the movie studio i was working for would do that. When me or someone would make a trailer/tvc with copyrighted music, he would get one of the cheap interns to make a track to sound very similar. Even though he was a multi-millionaire he was to cheap to pay for any copyrighted material /end rant.
[quote]
law suit waiting to happen that.... cue sound of lawyers waiting their time

never ceases to amaze how many film people abuse music in that manner - or worse expect music for free.. cause its promotion man... yeah try that line with ya actors cok
[quote]
$20 goes to someone who can name which two tracks were copied in this trailer.

The first one might be a bit hard (maybe not if you're a die hard danny boyle fan).. the last one is kind of easy, especially the notes at the end.

*i can't view youtube on this computer at work so this might not be the correct trailer Laughing
