The TAB is picking Tua to win.
http://www.stuff.co.nz/4825689a1823.html

He has fought some big names in the past, but will his lack of recent competition let him down?

I want Shane Cameron to win.. who are you going for?

[quote]
Given that Cameron is the better technical boxer, so long as he can stay out of the way of that left hook of Tua's and doesnt bleed too much he should win.
[quote]
I think Cameron will get though with his speedwork, he just has to watchout those eyebrows don't split.

Isn't that what anyone need do to beat Tua? One trick pony for sure..
[quote]
I reckon Cameron will destroy him... Tua is a has been!
[quote]
Tua will take it. Cameron will try to brawl with Tua. He will want to knock him out and it will cost him. If Cameron is sensible and keeps his head on him he will stay as far from Tua as possible and try to last the fight and win on points.

If Monty Betham can knock out Cameron so can Tua.

didn't he have the bone shaved done so this won't happen again??

That pile of cash on the pic is so gansta. Laughing

Confused

When did that happen? I thought he had only lost one fight, and I saw that particular fight and he was TKO'd.

And Nacoa yes he had the bone shaved and or some scar tissue removed to help stop that

Oh right, I thought they had an actual fight in the ring I hadnt heard about.

To be fair it would be easier to knock someone out in a street fight than the ring wouldnt it (no gloves to take away some of the impact etc). Still, Monty did look like he would have been a decent boxer if he had carried on.
[quote]
Monty has started a boxing career, hasn't he?
[quote]
I thought he had already retired from boxing? Smile

He retired due to pressure from the missus. He was on 60 minutes talking about it.

is that a joke?

Tua is going to need to actually get fit before he has any chance whatsoever. He's a lump of lard atm. (so Im told) Hence the fight he has before Cameron I suppose

That was all to do with TV rights wasn't it? cause Maori TV has the rights to his next fight, but they could afford to pay the million or whatever they need to make Tua vs Cameron work.. that's what it said on stuff a while ago anyway
[quote]
Possible yeah,....I was just ass uming Cool When was the last time Tua even fought? 3-4 years ago. Def needs to go beat up a bum before facin Cameron anyway
[quote]
..well I didn't see that coming!

Waikato Stadium to host the fight.

[quote]
Tua has lost 3 fights in his pro career. To Ike Ibeabuchi, Chris Byrd and Lennox Lewis. If Cameron thinks his name will be added to that list he is fukn dreaming.

Tua, who won his first national title as a 13-year-old middleweight in Hamilton , was happy enough to return to where it all began. Tongue in cheek, he declared: "It's an O for Awesome place.

Hamilton certainly is o for Awesome, Mr Tua.

o for Awesome indeed. Laughing Laughing
[quote]
I have heard that Shane Cameron has been wearing a shirt around that says o for awesome

Looks like a pretty smart move by the promoters (as odd as that sounds talking about boxing)

Auck and Wellington councils wouldnt front any $$ but Hamilton will. Sure its a lot less than they hoped for.... but they have a venue now, and the best part is the Auckland PI/Boxing/Tua fan community wont have any problem making the 3 hour round trip to see this so called Fight of the Century.

+ throw the bogun waikato farming community into the mix = gaurenteed gate. cant go wrong now

or......
[quote]
^ AK City Council didn't come to the party cos they wasted their money on ol' golden balls Beckham.

I think it's a damn fukn shame TBH. How many of Tua's fights in the USA did you hear the announcer say 'hailing from Sth Auckland, New Zealand...' All of them!

The motherfucka repped us everytime he stepped in that ring and this is how we treat him.
[quote]
If it's such a big thing and will make lots of money why does a council have to put money in? Why shouldn't the promoter foot all the bill?

It could easily have been in Auckland but the promoters wanted to shop around and try and get more profit by getting city councils to put money into it. I don't think all the blame can be attributed to councils.
[quote]
I saw Tua last week outside Maori TV.

hes FAT.

I think KFC has him beaten in the 3rd.
[quote]
I hope Tua shows Cameron some respect and trains hard for this fight. He's got a solid chin and obvious punching power but he'll need to back that up with fitness.
[quote]
i like david tua. . but i want shane cameron to win. its a damn shame the fight got moved from Auckland to H-town Rolling Eyes

I liked Tuas quote from end of last week

"It's lucky I didn't stare to hard at his face he would of bleed"

or something similar

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Tua's looking pretty good actually
[quote]
Fuck he is looking very good. Almost 30kg's off by the time he will step into the ring.

Even sparring can be dangerous

I think $40 is alot to pay to watch someone fight on TV. Does anyone know if this will be replayed anywhere, like Sky Sport?
[quote]
Hasim Rahman is fighting on the undercard. Opponent TBA. Crazy how they've got a former World Champion on the same bill.

Tua's fought him twice. Won one, lost one.
[quote]
I thought I read someplace they had to can Raham because they couldnt find an opponent? Def crazy if they have managed it ...as I wasnt sure how they were going to make enough to pay Tua and Cameron as it is(and I heard Sir Bob Jones himself questioning that on radio sport)

Duco events appears your typical boxing organisation anyway in that you cant believe anything they say. "Fight of the Century!?"... how can they say that when the century is barely a decade gone?

Really fascinated with this bout though b/c I really havent got a clue who will win
[quote]
Rhaman - the man is fukn HUGE. He got smashed by Klitschko in a title fight just last year.

That's the sort of fighter Cameron will have to face if he wants to make it in the USA.

bob miravich isnt exactly small... Old and shit, but not small

I still dont know if cameron has the goods to fight in the states. i think he may struggle against tua. Tua is looking pretty sharp. Plus i think he has the hunger. He wants it more.

Am going to the weigh in on Sat at the casino.

Caught a glimpse of sugar ray when he was in hamilton too. He has some big ass fucking security with him. sif the guy couldnt smash anyone that got close anyways Froggy

By HUGE I mean his build.

Rahman aint fighting on the undercard, so my bad.
[quote]
Google is failing me, but I know these two fights are on undercard

John Hopoate vs Colin Wilson(three-time former Australian champion)

Soulan Pownceby vs Shane "choppa" Chapman
[quote]
Hoppa is a clown. He got knocked the fuck out by an over the hill Oliver McCall.

BTW, what is it with league players becoming boxers/rugby players/and now afl players?

I love my league, but some of the players think they're gods gift to sport or someting...sheeesh.
[quote]
Given how long Tua's been out of the ring he might lack the conditioning late in the fight, I can't see Cameron knocking him down as Tua's jaw was granite and that's one thing he definitely won't have lost... But if Tua gets tired and just resorts to lumbering around throwing telegraphed left hooks as his did against big men when he got frustrated late in the fight then Cameron might be able to survive and take it on points. The game plan for fighting Tua has always been fiarly straight forward, it remains to be seen whether Cameron is disciplined enough to stick to it otherwise I'm sure he will be knocked out.

I think what it comes down to is if Cameron is a good enough fighter to last, as I said the game plan is crystal clear but I'm still not sure that Cameron is anywhere near Tua's level. Tua has one of the biggest left hooks in boxing history and is second only to Tyson in his knockout ratio (sure he's never been a champion but he was a contender when the division was a lot stronger than it is now), nothing that Cameron has done so far suggests he is in the same class however it's the perfect chance for him to prove he deserves to fight top heavyweights.

not anything to do with either fighter but to whet the appetite for today, was wandering through youtube as you do and came across Shaq "Attack" O'Neill vs Oscar "Golden Boy" de la Hoya:

[quote]
Wow. Expected a Tua win but not like that. Embarrassing for Cameron. Welcome back Tua.
[quote]
that was cool

but kinda sucks so short lived
[quote]
so who forked out the readies to sky? Laughing
[quote]
Not sure why the ref thought the fight needed to go to the second round or more importantly why he didn't foul Tua for punching when Cameron was on his knees. Twice. It perhaps might have been a tough call if he'd been disqualified for it, but really bad form on the part of both Tua and the ref.

Still, good to see Tua is back. What next though?
[quote]
I have just watched this over and over on reply and no once when he actually on his knees when Tua hit him.

What a mismatch Neutral the dudes career is over I would think. No one would want to fight such a lightweight!

Music
[quote]
Gotta give props to Lee Parore and Roger Bloodworth. Tua was primed and completely focused for this fight.

Also, Shane Cameron has got some balls calling Tua out. Seriously, he gave Tua a reason to step back into the ring. Good on him, and I hope he recovers well. He took some heavy shots to the dome from one of the hardest punches in heavyweight boxing history. He'll be feeling the hurt today...

Who's next?

What footage are you watching? It's pretty plain and obvious here... http://iforce.co.nz/i/Tua%20v%20Cameron.avi

Definitely mismatch though.. Tua was on some kinda Tyson buzz!
[quote]
Hmmm didn't realize he was on the floor with those shots thought he was just on the nets. Anyway hardly matters adrenaline would have been pumping for Tua! Good work from him.

ok Ive now seen the fight.....wtf and LOL @ the ref. What is with his skintight outfit? Why? On a man of his age? AND HIS TOUPEE!!!???

ru fkn serious cmon Laughing Im sorry.... dont know much about this sport but is he for real or some sort of clown. Boxing is so so awesome Laughing Laughing
