'Shake Ur Body' on ZM today.....

I was buying a souvlaki for dinner tonight, and as I contemplated the dubious hygiene standards of my local Lebanese outlet, I couldn't help but notice that the Digital and Spirit Rmx of Shake It was playing. Upon enquiring as to where the music was coming from, the dissatisfied counter clerk moodily informed me that he has to listen to '...shitty 91ZM all day, I don't think there's anything funny about that'. Needless to say, I was most taken aback.

yeah i was picking up some milk from tha servo on the way home from work... it was playing in there.. not much to discuss. its a heavy tune!!! I DONT CARE WHAT YOU HATERS SAY!!

I love the tune, and will not stop loving it. It seems a bone fide funky drum 'n' bass tune to me - and just because it's popular in the mainstream doesn't take away from that if you ask me.

I like particualr music because I think it sounds cool, not because it's "exclusive" or "non commercialised" or any such elitish crap. Having said that, commercialisation, and hearing a tune too often can make me tire of it. But I don't listen to 91ZM anyway, so I shouldn't have any issues with that.

Big up Shy FX for doing a tune that is so well liked anyway. Maybe it'll bring more interest into the DnB scene from other dance music genres, and even from the mainstream. I suppose it's arguable whether that's a good or bad thing in itself.

By the way - can you get it (or any of the rmx's) on CDs other than Movement: Brazilian Job, or maybe on single soon? A cheesy-pop-liking friend of mine who heard some DnB at my house loved it *sigh* and wants to buy the single. I told her to buy Brazilian Job, but she balked at $40. Grrr.

Shake Yr Body has just been released on CD this week in the UK and is getting played all the time on Radio 1. So should get pretty popular here then I guess they'll release down it NZ on CD. Been a lot of mainstream hype on it in the UK. Hypes also just starting on Peshay's You Got Me Burning.

Its was bound to happen!!!! I still like the track though no matter how huge it has become.

Over here the equivalent of ZM plays a lot of Kosheen.

well, i'll always love dnb. but if this keeps happening, it's all gonna come mainstream. which to me takes away why i first loved it!!! the whole underground thing. but what happened to trance is gonna happen here (commercialisation thing.) if we're not careful. then there will be too many undesirables in the scene. ouch!!!

hit the general public long ago. Fuck, Dillinja's
album got a nice rating in the saturday Dominion

I predict Number One for 'Shake It' around the world, & DnB becoming 'cool' again. We will all finally making some money and loads of ppl that look like that video dancing like that at all our gigs......

I'd say that for the mainstream public, 'Shake Ur Body' will merely come across as another one off tune from a random artist - and there's plenty of those about - and the most that will happen (generally speaking) is that a few singles will get sold, maybe a CD here and there, and perhaps some party attending (if they make the effort to find out what's up), maybe...

I have to add myself to the big up Shy FX massif, I like the tune, but am getting pretty sick of it already, so no doubt hearing it in bogans cars and crappy retail stores for the next 6 months will drive me farking nuts.

I'm fully looking forward to taking a spotter approach to the effect that this mainstream recognition will have on the scene as a whole - should be very entertaining!
