Sebastian Wild - Exposé

First of all I’d like to say a big thanks to all the feedback I received from “My Evolution”, which was an absolute monster of a set. I had heaps of awesome comments coming from a massive range of people who were generally from very different musical perspectives, which was really great and exactly what I’d hoped to achieve. Hopefully those of you that had previously pigeon holed me into one particular genre have now been set straight! It was also great to get featured on the Christchurch Music Industry Trust website with it. See the feature here: CHART FEATURE

Haven’t heard “My Evolution”? Check it out here: My Evolution

Exposé takes a completely different angle to My Evolution. Firstly it’s a single disc (which is a relief, you’ve got no idea how difficult it is to give out three different CD’s at once!), which has made me far more through in my track selection. Also, this time around I’ve decided to target the faster edge of my music, yet I’ve still kept an extremely open mind as far as track selection goes so it’s not just all one genre. However I have designed it for a main room trance set so there is a fair bit of trance in it, but I encourage non-trance fans to check it out as you may be really intrigued as to how I’ve incorporated other genres into it and vice-versa, hopefully there’s more than at least a few tracks in there that you trance enthused don’t know! Thanks to the lovely Jared Knapp, I’ve also selected the tech remix of “Mixed Emotions” currently available on Beatport for this CD. If you do enjoy it (track 16), please buy it and help support your local artists!

The CD was recorded on 3x CDJ1000MK3’s, a DJM-800, EFX100 and the newest addition to my setup the DJM-909. Expect the usual crazy antics, plenty of subtle effects littered across the CD from the EFX1000 (and some not so subtle!), followed with a pinch of scratching and overtones of filters. Smashed together across 24 tracks, many edited to my specification, to produce what I named, Exposé. Delicious.

If you want to catch me playing out, you can do so virtually every weekend or near weekend night of the week. Crisis and I have just come up with a new concept for Thursday nights called THURS101, which we host at Liquidity. It’s basically night class for students. We serve premium drinks at $4, and give people an option to not spend their night listening to a computer DJ! Come down and have a listen. We have a broad music policy and play everything from funky house and breaks, right thought to electro. Fridays you can usually catch me at Base playing a range of house through to chunky trance depending on my set time and Saturday I pack Liquidity with a mixture of funky house through to electro and the current anthems. Coming soon you can also catch me playing main room support for Sneaky Sound System. I played after them last time they hit the garden city and it totally went off. I’m expecting just the same this time!

This month I’m also proud to announce my involvement and ownership in the brand spanking new PulzarFM launching Canterbury wide on April 18th at 2pm. This has been a huge opportunity for me and something I’m incredibly proud to be a part of. Please tune in (those of you that live out of Canterbury…web stream!) and tell as many people as you can, we’re broadcasting on 105.7FM. I’ll be hosting my show “Wild Weekender” every Saturday from 8pm – 10pm so listen in before you hit the clubs. Any DJ’s out there please feel free to get in touch about guest sets or your latest tunes, I’d love to feature them.

Last month it was also a pleasure to play for Southern Cross Music at their launch in Wellington at The Garden Club. It was really fantastic night with some of the best electronic acts in New Zealand. Crisis and I were delighted to lay down an exclusive b2b decks’n’efx set in the main room, which totally went off. It was fabulous to once again play with Chris, it’s been years since we have and it’s honestly a pleasure to play with a DJ who technically really know his shit – cheers mate, I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to next time!

I think that’s about me. Enjoy the new CD and feel free to post any feedback!

All the best,
Seb x

Comments about me from other promoters and DJ’s:

“Sebastian has great character and is an outstanding DJ. For his age I was extremely impressed with his knowledge of music and technical skill. He defiantly has a lot of potential.”
Ralph Kyau (Kyau & Albert, Pro DJ – Ranked World 48 DJ Mag top 100, 2006)

"I had the pleasure of seeing Seb play twice while I was in New Zealand, and all I can really say is wow. He's like the Little Engine that Could. Owning those decks with pure technical skills, you are forced into wondering what’s coming, despite the fact that you may already know the tracks! Unreal!"
Sean Tyas (Pro DJ and Producer, Ranked World 54 DJ Mag top 100, 200Cool

“I have been very fortunate to have met Seb and witness him DJ. I was really impressed by him, not only as a person but also as a DJ. His mixing and tune selection skills are excellent. He plays with loads of energy. I would say that he would be one of New Zealand's future stars. He is definitely one of the best DJ's I've seen in New Zealand.”
Phil Reynolds (Pro DJ and Producer, Impact / Digital Creation / Innovate / Heat)

“Seb Wild is an outstanding DJ technically, easily one of the best in New Zealand. I have flown him up for my events in the past and look forward to him being a staple part of my parties in the future.”
Jared Knapp (Pro DJ, Promoter of Incline Events and Oxygen)

“I’ve witnessed Seb grow over the years and he is already at an outstanding level, technically superb and can scratch like a demon. This guy is certainly going places, one to watch... needs a haircut!”
Justin Sane (Pro DJ, Host of NZ’s No.1 Saturday night dance show)

"An energetic young dj, his music style continues to progress to keep him at the forefront of the dance scene, there is no time for rest and I warn other Djs to stand up and take notice, with a unique sense of presence and style - 2008 is set to be 'the year of Seb Wild'"
Jaclyn Philpott (Trustee - Christchurch Music Industry Trust & Director Rustic Entertainment)

“Sebastian Wild is a name to watch. Over the four years I've known Seb his DJing, professionalism and crazy party antics have helped him become one of the top up & coming DJ's in New Zealand. Definitely a force to be reckoned with!”
Andy Pulzar (Pro DJ & Pulzar FM founder)
