re. the lounge- sam hill is organising a techno night soon...

so, what do u guys reckon?

is sam really wanting to promote proper techno gigs or is he trying to have a finger in every pie?
[quote]
i think he's a funny man
[quote]
he is probebly into premoting a proper night, as to his techno background im not so sure of. if hes not so into it but looking for a new avenue who knows how it could turn out, guess his selection of dj's will hint at his knoledge.
[quote]
Sam knows what techno is, he is even playing some "proper" stuff amongst his trance shite (! Razz) at the moment.

I keep reading oversea's press about hardhouse and hardtrance dj's incorporating techno into there sets. And aparantly even the harddance music is sounding more and more like techno!

[quote]
Well if tance evolved from techno and hh adn hd evolved from a combination of commercial dance and tech styles, then it stands to reason that they're coming full circle a little bit... saying that no 'real' techno dj would play trance or HH in their sets, funny that it's fine in reverse.
Good on them all I say, maybe one reason why techno is outselling many other forms of music Wink
Work it.

That said any techno DJ drops any Darude and you might have a walkout on your hands.....

I think that anyone that calls temselves a DJ doesnt limit there sets to one style of electronica.I agree with slugs last post and would like to add that if a techno dj played a darude track or a bedrock track he would clear the floor in most places.Things do come full circle in the sense of techno. For instance techno is getting more tracky and big floor again. My point is that many dj's play more than one style in a set,for example techno guys playing electro with techno, it just works.Well with that said it either works or it doesnt.

Slug's been taking advantage of Sam's bar tab at Suite 16...
[quote]
No fishboy, but he did sell me his Dave Clarke - No ones Driving 12" (and other steals) for $5 when i used to work with him at DJ Outlet Razz

"They call it aceeeid!!"
[quote]
I knew someone who paid $100 for the rob hood mix of red2! And I knew about 5 people with the record, bloody should have hastened my vinyl capitalism Wink

Sam - I seriously doubt any tech heads would check out a night that had trance or hD playing alongside techno (aside from a very quick look in in some cases). Most of them are too pure about the sound.
However, think that many suite 16 folk would do well in hearing techno, always get conversions at events like that... why not just send them along to a techno gig in the first place tho ;l

funny stuff...

ive dropped techno at trancy type gigs and people have loved it...of couerse only finding out what it really was by asking but all the same...
but it doesn't work the other way...this is really interesting.
definitely the progression in all mainstream styles across the world at the present time is for more things techy. its just happening....
i say great.
i say play it wherever and whenever for whoever.
we will all find our places to stand.

the heart and soul will remain heart and soul if its true enough, you know what i mean?

wordout.
