Life is so Grand :o)

This morning i woke at 11.30am, then i hoped into the shower and picked out my best 'funeral clothes' as today i would bury my closest relative, my grandmother. I quickly bustled downstairs to read the beautiful entry i had written on behalf of myself and my siblings in the herald to discover they had made a huge mistake instead of "our memories of her are many and varied" it read "our memories of her are many and buried" GrRRrRR!
So after a bit of disappointment and a quick clean of the house, all 5 of us bustled into a car and drove down to St John's for the Requiem mass. Which was just stunning even though the song i was meant to be leading left me a blubbering mess of tears.
Following the service about 30 of us jumped into our cars and followed the hurst up to Puhoi, where i had picked a plot for her to be buried (right in the middle ...as she loved being the center of attention)
After the Father McMass (as my Gran used to call him) had done his thing, she was lowered down. I couldn't help but think it was such a waste of such a pretty casket and flowers :/ We soon bustled out of the cemetery to make jokes about how Gran would of reacted.
Deciding it was what she would of wanted we all mad a bee-line for puhoi pub, where we sculled back a few and chatted some more about the person who would of been making dodgy passes at the barman...
Soon we stumbled back here, to drink more, eat more, argue, and more importantly laugh more!

What a fantastic send off we gave her, with the funeral today and the wake yesterday Smile x

(btw, i'm requesting to have a wake for when i die)
[quote]
i would like a wake too

that was a really nice way of telling us bout your funeral day. i appriciate your support aims *hugs* and i hope you are ok too.

i want them to play "sweet release" when i die
[quote]
I'm actually starting to organise my funeral the way i want it ...i can change it as i get older.

But i realised how important it is Smile

Wake's are cool as, we had like pictures on screen of her life people told stories and got drunk, while she lay in her casket smiling at us Smile x
[quote]
did the undertakers make her smile?
[quote]
Haha ...not quite, but i'm sure the sherry we put on top of her did Smile

I'll always remember the time the nurses in the rest home took her to town!!! Very Happy
