Right of Way Change...

ok... I get the change to the left one but can someone explain to me why this is the best way to do the 2 cars turning right change? :/

Indeed, I can imagine traffic on certain intersections backing up for miles, due to a single fucker wanting to turn right and then having to wait for the queue of traffic at that intersection to make their way through...

Will fall in line with the rest of the World and take away the "Who the fuck is going to do what here scenario"...

I give way to the right like that already so no drama's...

Thing is.....doesn't that only apply at uncontrolled intersections? Where uncontrolled means "has no signs or traffic signals". I.e. in 99% of cases, the green car has a stop sign which puts him behind the other motorists?

I probably wont drive for at least a month after the changes. Not because I don't understand them, but that I trust no other fucker on the road.

Anyway, it just so weird that the other part of the rule change now makes it consistent with how controlled intersections work, but this part is now inconsistent.

Yeah I think its good because

A) a lot of people don't realise thats the rule now..

and

B) It can be hard to asertain as you are approaching an intersection whether the other road is a Stop, Give Way or Uncontrolled, especially in say the dark.

SO everyone who is over fifty who never understood the rule anyway will now sit at an intersection looking at everyone under fifty who is confused at the new rule until some Asian who got his license via a scanner and photoshop pulls out of one of the queues and directly into oncoming traffic, with the confusion of the resulting smash alllowing everyone in general to carefully drive around each other?

Right. Confusion abounds. Yeah, so this change is making the law for uncontrolled intersections match up with how controlled intersections work. Which make sense, because everyone does it that way anyway, ignoring the current law, since 99% of intersections like that *are* controlled with at least a give way sign for the green car if not a stop or red light.

My advice: make eye contact with the other driver, and be decisive. Remember, they will be as confused as you so will defer to your superior confidence.

That and buy a car worth less than $2500 on trademe and drive that for the first three months after the change.

it is kinda funny though to imagine the look of supreme confidence on Just's face changing to one of horror when she sees a M-1 tank turning right in front of her.

This essentially, as it is on uncontroled intersections 90% of the time the car that doesn't have the right of way proceeds first because no one understands the rule and treat it like a Stop or Give Way sign.

This ^... even a Give Way sign would apply there too.
