Red FM

Anybody out there listen to Red Fm?
95.4 on you FM dial.
If so what are your thoughts on it?
Good for a change from the usual crap on so called dance stations me thinks, there is only so much house I can handle.

I quite enjoy it.

Although I find that they repeat the songs a bit too often

Yeah that is one of the problems. It is all done on a computer with a limited play list except at around 8pm every night when live DJ's play for a few hours.

any station that doesnt play those annoying lil f*@%'n add jingles has to be all good huh? keep it up. its a good opportunity for up'n commin dj's to play sets and get exposure. mebbe we'll see more of that soon.

i agree with the repetition gripe, and the musik is quite commercial, but i have to say its the station i listen to in the car 95% of the time, its kool hearing some favourites! Good job!

1 request, please strengthen the signal for all us folk on the southern side of the bridge. I mean it fade's quite badly around k'rd even!

stop me if i'm wrong, but is it only the shore? i can't pick it up at home in grafton. good tunes, a bit random, but still good.

Definately a nice change, Infusion magazine puts on a show from 8pm - 10pm every Monday, worth checking out if you get sick of the repetition

i live on the shore and i cant get it at home but i can get it on the shore and in town in my car, doesn't like underground parking building either!

So why is everbody knockin george all of a sudden. How is ait a "so called" dance radio station. You've been supplied with a 24hour a day Auckland wide all genre music station and you moan about a couple of adds. Sort your shit out. Bit of Positivity please.

Think its a great station cept my bastard car stereo won't pick it up. And my bastard stereo at home (Northcote) can't find the signal either.

yeah me likes it lots. More thrancey II guess than George. getting a little tired of now thats what i call dance volume 2 add. I get it in my bedroom ( downstairs) but not upstairs and occasionaly in the car. Well not my car I dont drive but freinds cars.,

George kicks ass..

Drive show, Dave and Ollie, 'Bedroom' Dj sets, not to mention the competitions they have! I know I've won vinyl, tickets etc... and I can pick it up in the sticks too. The adds crack me up too.. Eg, Roasted Addiction Coffee..

I tend to find George a bit one dimensional, just my opinion based on every single time i tune in, mostly when im in my car.

Always find myself flicking the CD's on instead, or RED FM when i can get it.

george always brings a smile to my face whenever i tune in, its nice to have variety, between the b, red n george, we are happy yeah..?

I think the station plays a bit tooo much of trance and techno they should rather get on to playing a bit more of hardhouse. that would make it awesome but definitely it is the best of all the stations in auckland

When the dudes at Red sort their shit out, there's a Biggie radio show at least twice a week, and they're getting a live web feed sorted. Apparently. But their being slackasses.

where else can u get red fm? i live in Pukekohe about 1hr out ALK cbd i cant get any good stations out here i have to listen to the edge but i cant get any dance stations b sux and i really like george but cant get it here anyone help me !!! besides moving to town i think im screwed? oh can u get george in queenstown ? i heard u could

Red's transmitter is up in Whangaparoa so that's why the signal is no good south of the HB. They are supposed to be looking into increasing the signal strengh.
And as far as hard house is concerned Fevah (NOT the bar/club in Takapuna) does a show on Tues nights 8-12pm. Been off air for a few weeks though, but will be back on apparently on the 16th. So tune in then for some tastey stonking madness.

Forest, if you drive regularly to Auckland, presume you at least do to go to clubs, try tuning into red at about the pukekohe east tennis courts, you will then get it all the way to the ramarama offramp.

sorry dude i take the bus to town but yea i do drive up on the weekends to my second hom Krd of course but my radio dosnt have a band expanda

Got to say it sucks ass..... started listening to it about a month ago but they still playu the same songs! must be on some of a loop or something..... but it and when they get there shit togther it'll be pretty gooood. Tilll then i will stick to cds thanks.

yes i like red, its great!.. way to repetitive tho. but it plays some great favourites. and some old tracks, its kool uh

I love red, particularly this one trak on it where a guy says something along the lines of: "im the greatest MC.. when i start don't di-sturb me, when i start it's somethin ta see, somethin ta see etcetc," and it has a like a beatbox baseline, i love this song and if anyone know what it's called i would be grateful for you to let me know.

George is also good when it's got the hwole funky house thing goin on, as it's great to drive to when you're in that realxing mode.

don't knock either of them they both have had some thought and effort into each of them, and they each promote the dance scene more by getting the music out there.

Oh, and you can pick up George at my place too, 11Kms outta Pukekohe,.. try jimmying up an arial.

If you are at the old hospital end of ramarama you will be able to get it (ie closer to bomaby hills), if you are at the city end of ramarama probably not.

When i've heard it it sounds fine. However can never seem to get a signal strong enough to warrant listening. Apparently the studio is around k'rd somewhere, yet the signal is broadcast from whangaporoa.

Red FM rocks my day away (at work) can't pick it up at home!!! Bumma.. and some afternoons it goes a bit dodgy too. Mmmm, did start to wonder if it was recorded, cause I'm sure every morning when I turn on the stereos at work, it's playing the same tune!!!
But it's definitely the answer to a 100% dedicated dance music station...

A few questions:

Ok so I can only seem to get RedFM in my bedroom at home which is great but when I'm driving around the shore... NO LUCK!
SO when are we going to be able to pick it up further?

Also I've noticed more and more house being played... which I am a little disappointed about since there is George.

And then the repeat of the songs.

I really do enjoy listening to RedFM but will it stay the same as it is now?

its bloody hard to pick up on the shore - unless u are up high, i'm down by the sugar works and cannot get it, but go up the road and it's fine. check out there web site www.redfm.co.nz cause you can listen to it over the net and it gives u the track listings. =]

god damn good music coming from you fulla's but no damn signal mean sputs ears arent hearn it though....chuck a power station on it and force the whole damn southern hemisphere to listen im sure they wont protest...i know i wouldnt.

Red fm seems to be filling the trance/HH genre gap on auckland radio fairly nicely albeit witha limited selection of tracks. Perhaps they could expand a little on this though? I hear the odd house tune but howsa bout a little dnb or 2step/breaks now and then?

Also one more thing has anyone else noticed that when stopped at the lights the signal might be weak then you roll forward like a metre and its strong again then another metre it goes crackly again. Weird!

Good news is between bfm, george and red i can usually find something i wanna hear

If I hear that shitty Bass, Beats, Melody by Brooklyn Bounce again, I'ma kill someone.
