Hi guys, I'm looking to explore progressive as a subgenre to what I usually play for off peak time slots. As I don't really know any of the producers it's proving hard to find the sound I'm after which is:

Dark with heavy rolling basslines, stabs of electro and techno sounds. Minimal vocals if at all. Definitely nothing uplifting or trance sounding.

I'm not the best with words but hopefully that gives you some idea. If you could recommend any producers of this sort of sound for me to look up that would be much appreciated!

Nice. Surprisingly I've actually heard that one before...

Actually... check out Basti Grub.

I've got about a dozen of his tunes from the past year... many are sort of dubby, tribal-infused grooves. Some wont be your thing but the odd one would be perfect. They wont have rolling basslines (he's German after all) but def worth checking out.

Also M.in and Andre Crom have done some nice stuff lately. I think their stuff is on Beatport.

Hmmm... not quite what I was after but thanks anyway Smile

Theres been some very cool stuff in that field lately Music

But on topic, the stuff I can suggest is probably going to have a lot of crossover with the tech realm... but have a listen to just about anything by Joris Voorn (Deep Side of the Moog, The Deep, his remixes of Jimpsters Dangly Panther or Robert Babicz's Dark Flower), then have a listen to some of Babicz's stuff like his remix of Way Out West - Spaceman which is Shocked

Obviously guys like Zabiela are doing a lot of crossover stuff like Human (which is exceptional), check out Christian Paduraru, Carlos Calabro, aaargh, mind going blank because Im at work.

Have a listen to that stuff, and if Im on the right track, Ill point you in the direction of a bunch more...

Naming producers is a bit difficult as there are few who make tunes you describe consistently. Labels might be easier.

Here are a few:

Vapour
Hope
Pure Substance
Proton
Frisky
Bedrock
Bellarine
Tribal Vision
No Smoking
Baroque

more here http://progressivehouse.com/labels/

Tech cross over is cool, that's what I'm after. Tech with more bassline.

Yea, thought this must be the case as has been difficult finding what I'm after by just genre searching Progressive on Beatport and whatnot.

Thanks guys, will have a listen tonight

Yeah, it sounds to me like you're describing techno/tech-house more so than progressive anyways! Laughing

You could check out peoples Beatport Charts, just to get some ideas of artists/labels

Chris Fortier
Joris Voorn

Lets call it prgressive tech and be done with it Razz

Heres a couple more for you then...

Kollectiv Turmstrasse (Look for their remix of Johnjon - Meanwhile)
Stimming
Jerome Sydenham
Josh Lasden & Synoptic
Tiger Stripes

Maybe Pitch & Hold, Williams, and Jimpster

Actually, on second thoughts, theyre not really darker, theyre deeper more melodic shizz. Im just telling you the stuff I like now! Heh :>
