Sup peeps - just wanted to throw a plug for biggie's advertising -------------->

Bought some of that Reactiv protein (by following the ad link)... It's cheap and fucking delicious. Not too fussed about the company but I'm sure biggie/Mike do ok out of any clicks and purchases etc. I'm not fussy with fancy protein as I only ever have it on my nutri-grain or in a couple of smoothies a week - it just needs to be delicious.

Stopped protein powder intake a while ago now and since just stick to protein sources from real foods. I found this suit me more.

The other thing, I have had a talk to some of sportsmen friends, who said that the intake of carbs is more crucial than protein straight after the work out. Protein is important still, but not in doses originally thought. In fact, the "over the top" protein intake can lead to a poor fluid absorption. So all the fluids you drink you will piss out, instead of hydrating your body. It is of course sport specific.

Yeah to be honest I'm not that finicky about my diet mate - I like protein because it keeps me fuller for longer, and adds some flavour to my smoothies. When I work out in the morning I have nutri-grain with protein & milk, plus a bit of fruit. This means I don't have to eat eggs or whatever for breakfast every day, and still get some protein with that meal. I come to work straight from the gym and I already leave with enough food for lunch & snacks without having to think about breakfast as well.

$80 every 2 or 3 months to assist my protein intake isn't that much.

Although it makes me piss a lot, Reactiv is great. Works just alright.

On my second 1.5L tub of Defining Whey . Mixing it with the Creatine. Magic.

My only advice, bit of no-brainer really - if you're working out late and get about 750ml of that stuff up in you. Kiss goodbye to to your dinner.

I read an article a few months back on this exact topic. Some American university had studied which blend of nutrients was best for post-workout recovery. Interestingly they studies dozens of fitness products and, by far, the best product as a post workout drink was.....

......Chocolate milk. Yep, plain old chocolate milk. (maybe low fat.. can't remember). It was also the cheapest product they tested too!

The roughly 4 to 1 ratio of carbs to protein came out as the ratio their studies showed to be the aim immediately post training. Recovery was better drinking that compared to much higher protein or low carb drinks.

Who would have guessed?

This was only looking at post-workout tho. The 5 hours after workout or next morning drinks/food would no doubt be vastly different in what it needed.

Chocolate milk has been known for ages to be good for recovery. I've been using it for around 5 years.
