Having not flown anywhere significant in about 7 years I find myself perplexed over a choice between the two airlines for a long haul flight

Instinct is telling meto pay a few hundy more and fly BA, but I have nothing solid to back that up. Any recent well-travelled biggies have any advice?

which has the better safety record?

hmmm is it BA? Im not really worried about that tbh. Its more the comfort of the seats, the food, the quality of the entertainment, and the friendlyness/hotness of the trolley-dolleys Razz

cathay pacific for the mile high trolley dolley club

a propos this

Advice? Go Emirates please.

Between the two though for Long Haul? BA will have better in-flight service. However, bear in mind, BA has a shocking record when it comes to lost baggages. Not a myth!

Its best to fly with AirNZ when you come out to perth Spencer!

Booking BA from NZ could mean getting a Qantas flight half way and then BA for the remainder. And vice versa. Qantas often take the Ak - Bangkok route and then you transfer to BA for Bangkok - London.

Ah, that's presuming that's your flight path

Bankok yes but not London (ewww) . Decided to go Thai Airways...direct flight and good reputation (apparently) Smile

Extra $250 but wtf, I hate flying and dreaded Sydney stopover

agreed on emirates. i'm about to fly jetstar to bali soon - will see how that pans out,

Yeah I could have gotten JetStar to Bankok for $1100...almost 40% cheaper. But it sounded like an utter nightmare, I didnt want to spend the 1st week recovering

Catching a jetstar flight to auckland to chch is bad enough I shudder to think what a flight to Bali would be like.

Just flew air Asia from chch to kl and there was bugger all leg room. The flight home wasn't as bad but if you can choose your seats is well worth it if flying with a low cost carrier. Really battled with the idea of a dinner service for a flight departing at midnight though. Hello it's 2am and It would be nice to get some sleep Mad

my brother flew jetstar to hong kong and he reckons it was ok...

i did choose my seats and i tried to choose them so noone was sitting in front of me. it also looked as if it would be more expensive to prepay for meals (i only want one cold drink with my meals - no hot drinks) so am going to purchase on board. guess i'll see how that pans out as well. hah

Ok...so Auckland to Bali on Jetstar was sweet. Food was nice. Am flying back to Auckland tomorrow. There is nothing wrong with Jetstar's longhaul...

when they fly of course, the problem is they will cancel for a mote.
