Pyyda and Deadmau5 - the McDonald's of dance music

They're consistent, I'll give them that, but consistently 6 out of 10.

Just like the golden arches you only go there when you're too lazy to look a bit further for something which tastes better.

Food, like music, is subjective, Rob - something I often think you fail to grasp. Just cause you think they're 6/10 doesn't mean everyone thinks that.



Pryda - take or leave, personally.
Deadmau5 - hit or miss, some are only 4/10 imo, others are up in the 8's.

That's sort of the point.. At some stage the quality (and definitely the consistency) of something can be marked objectively.

I grasp the concept of personal preference and opinion fine, but also factor in my own judgement and experiences.

Both have made plenty of nice tunes - solid, useful tunes.. But they've gone a long way to commoditising their sound until it's a worthless, generic sound. Nothing they've done in the last year will go down in history as a pinnacle moment in dance history.

Yeah, true...like Chable, eh? Nice enough tunes, too samey most of the time...

Lol.. he doesn't come close in my books. I can't remember a Chable tune I would play except Melburn. I've heard some in other people's sets which sounded cool but they just don't mesh with my core styles.

pryda = reconstituted music. his tunes WERE original, now they are nothing but reptitions of his own methodical madness. whilst a rolling stone gathers no moss, even freshest of fruit gains mould when it stays still.

at least chable moved on, even to the dismay of the prog purists who can get techy wierd shit...

I really don't rate the tunes at all, like you say, 6/10 consistently. I'm absolutely positive the beatport charts are rigged for them.

I find only a few of Pryda's tunes are good. But man are they good.

His latest tunes Madderferrys and Balaton, and to an extent Ironman before those are av. However Seadweller, Remember, Frankfurt, Shadows are all top top tunes in my books.
