Crying or Very sad sad. PVD does it quite often with other djs apparently, shuts down the other stages when he's playing...dick! His videos are gay too Razz

All the bigger trance DJ's have riders to say the opening DJ can't play more than 130-132bpm.

Bit difficult on festivals with multiple big acts I guess..

Apparantly Tony from Above&Beyond pulled the fingers at ATB when they played after him at Global Gathering Melbourne last year too.. hah. Must be more than meets the eye with ATB i'm sure.

Official statement from Planet Love

quote:
ATB refuses to play Planetlove

It is with regret that I have to pen one of the worst unprofessional incidents we have encountered in almost 25 years of booking artists.

At 7pm on Saturday evening we respectfully asked ATB to help us with the smooth running of the show by playing his set at the festival from approximately 9pm to 11pm instead of his requested time of 10pm to 12midnight and he point blankly refused.

Instead he arrived at the site and chose to verbally abuse and threaten Judith, so much so that he had to be asked to calm down by his manager and security called as Judith feared that things would escalate further.

The facts are very simple. ATB chose not to play at all to the same crowd, in the same arena for the same two hour set rather than play one hour earlier!

I ask any rational person to try and relate to this.

He was paid in full, in advance, as where his flights and transport. He was treated with courtesy and respect but rather than play one hour earlier than he wanted to he hurled abuse, issued threats, wouldn’t play the new time and proceeded to blame PVD and was so convinced from the outset that it was PVD's doing that he even tried to coerce Judith into writing down that it was PVD’s fault. Paul Van Dyk did not even arrive at the venue until 11:45pm.

Never before has an artist refused to help with the smooth running of our shows and try and dictate what they should do. At the end of the day this show was about all artists and the people who went to enjoy them, not about one individual.

My thanks to the other artists, in particular Judge Jules, who did adapt to the time changes which facilitated the production crews the time to change over the defective generator during his set which was causing the problem in the first place. It is my belief that because of Jules help in the set time before 12 midnight that the change over was done in such a professional manner that I believe the crowd were not even aware that there was a problem. So simple when people work together.

Thats really sad. I love PvDs tunes and DJing.
i saw him at Gatecrasher when i was still in the UK. But I dont like it wen they are wankers. I wnt to a night in Wellington a few weeks ago and this DJ there was totally rude to me. How do they expect to get fans if theyare that rude? it was a drum n bass night on thursday

Yeah I was at that one. Tony was furious with ATB on stage as he dropped hit after hit after hit towards the end of his set, just before A&B were about to come on. Not a very good warm up set but ATB is hardly a warm up DJ though so go figure.

That is an interesting read about PlanetLove.
So strange, the only thing I can think of is that the doors opened at 9 and he would be the first act (although am pretty sure that festival starts early afternoon), don't quite know how JJ fits in as being a 'warm up' DJ tho. He rarely plays much below 138bpm (unless he's doing a house set ofcourse)...

In regards to ATB vs A&B, I'd say A&B are just being friggin idiots. In a festival most acts will usually only have a 90min set. So there is not exactly much time for a 'journey' set, your job would be to get the crowd going as best as possible in your time. Maybe ATB could've played a slower song to finish off, but I have seen A&B at a few festivals and they sure as hell don't. Even at SW4 a couple of weeks ago they as always play all there own big tunes for the last 30min and finished with 'On a Good Day' with Markus Schultz on next... (yes it was a farking awesome day Music )
