Been hanging n Posnsonby Road a bit recently and it's becoming somewhere I probably enjoy going for a drink more than anywhere else these days.

Julep, Grand Central, Ponsonby Social Club, Whiskey and Golden Dawn are all pretty rocking places where you can hear a range of DJing and live music.

Ink folllowed by Supper Club still rules the 3am-10am time though IMO!

Where's you favourite area these days to have a drink or go out?

Depends really for a night out we usually go to the viaduct and just bar hop aroundthere..it is fshit house though the distance between clubs I hate navigating around and walking around in heels is painful as the pavements are all crappy and uneven. The fact I'm not 21 probably has something to do with my jaded complaining.

....If I'm meeting someone for drinks or something usually Wynyard Quarter or Ponsonby.. maybe not so much now I'm located west 100% will just be Hangar or something Smile

This x 100000000000000

the K needs some decent bars... I quite like Beresford and of course the mighty Red Bar in the hood

Like golden dawn when its not hipstered and ad exec'ed out and barrio for the after work drinks... ipanema is alright too

rather die than do the viaduct

but prefer old man bars (and prices) the most

There's more bars along and near K Rd that I'll try before going to Ponsonby Rd. Wne Cellar, 4:20/Rising Sun, D.O.C even Whammy can be ok if someone decent is on. There's also meant to be a bar that Coco's owners are putting in place of Mr Morning.

its going to be a wine bar... fuck that shit I want mr morning back
[quote]
What was Mr Morning?
[quote]
Cafe, run by the coco's peeps

they had awesome scones for a while and allegedly fantastic ham rolls - which I never got to sample Sad

was my default meeting spot for one client *shakes fist*
[quote]
Ooooh... Now I have an insatiable craving for pork belly from Coco's. Damn you, damn you all.
[quote]
and pork bellys back on the menu having been dropped for a spell... one hopes it may be down to the mega tantrum I threw last time I was there... so undignified....

If that's the case, we will have to dinner there when I am up next month. Smile

I usually go to Tyler St Garage, because there are always tables available and they have pretty good service. BCC and 1885 are also good. I really like the bartenders at 1885, they are so switched on and make a mean French Martini (which is pretty much the only drink I drink these days).

A fine point, does anyone really care about the Viaduct any more when you have Britomart taking it's place?
[quote]
The Viaduct isn't even relevant anymore. Who goes there still? Nobodies. It's more restaurant these days.

Britomart is the new Ponsonby/Viaduct.

Ponsonby is still Ponsonby, nothing to do with being replaced by anything else Razz

Yeah I think most people include it as one, but it's so much cooler than the old viaduct.

After going out to Whiskey till maybe 4am, and then sleeping for a few hours, we rocked up to Supper at 8am before breakfast on Sunday. Ferksta was on the decks and had a good little bounce around ... almost feel like a local there these days ... even though I only head there maybe once a month ... lots of familiar faces etc .... soaked in a spa after having breakfast .... bliss
